I was thinking 30lb stealth or 20/30 lb fireline

Gonna get a lot of preferences. I have tried all of the braids as each new one comes out and is going to be "the best", but I have kept going back to Fireline. 20 for the Cape, 30 for RI. I have the least amount of break offs due to abrassion with Fireline. The 30 holds up well with the rocks in RI. Yes, it does get fuzzy as it sheds after time which I have found the only negative for that is when there is a lot of fire in the water on real dark nights.
Have one reel with Fireline that is 3 years old with no problems.
Too many mystery breakoffs with Power Pro and the Stealth and Gorilla Braid I couldn't wait to get off my reels I had so many problems with them.

That's just my opinion though. For me its Fireline all the way.
One good piece of advice if you do go with fireline, once you have it on your spools, soak it in a bowl of hot water for a little while. It breaks down the coating on it to make it more pliable. Doesn't effect strength of the line.

Definitely Fireline on the 710. I like power pro 30 and 50# on reels made to handle braid.

I have tried several of the other brands of super-lines and I have always returned to Fireline for the way I fish (probably poorly but I have fun).
I use 14lb Fireline for open sandy beaches and 30lb Fireline if I am fishing in or around structure.
20lb Fireline is a good compromise between the two if you want to spool up with just one line.

FireLine. Had lots of problems witrh PowerPro. I never a problem in 3 or 4 years using 20# FileLine.

I use Fireline 20# for all instances of fishing. I have 8 Shimano 6500's and 3 4500's spooled with it, most of my other reels are mono, wire and leadline.

I use Fireline for 2 years max because of the rock rubs and normal wear and tear, after the 1st year I completely empty one reel of line and put one of my reels with the year old line in my workshop vise and feed the line from that reel to the bare one so the line is actually back- spooled.

This way I rid myself of the wear and tear on the 1 year old line by using it as a backing and what was the original backing is now the leading line, nice and fresh. I repeat this for all the braided reels, never had a problem with braid for holding up.

You may want to use a little tape on your finger for casting as Fireline is great for those surgical cuts they sometimes leave when its wet. Fireline is definately better than Spiderwire, nice tip too about soaking it in hot water to soften it up.

:kewl: I got some of the XDS 50# and tried a few casts a while back. It handled more like a 20 or 30# than a fifty and its small for its test too. It looks like it is worth the extra $ IMO. I guess I'll know for sure in a few weeks after I put the schoolie rod away.
