Raven 04-03-2005, 11:55 AM hit start > find files> (search for) files named *.exe the "asterisk" being your wild card....ok [meaning every executable[.exe] file will pop up ) any files you see.....that you suspect are the culprit..... and tons of-em that come up you want to keep... you can highlight one so that that it's merely selected and then right click it to reveal the properties as in.... when it originated ...... or was last accessed.....look for dates... specifically then decide when your PC was running excellent and delete any files that were (VERY IMPORTANT WORD) "CREATED" on or after that date. thats one method...... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- check your start menu and see whats starting and running when you boot up...as too many things running at once will slow things down to a snails pace...ok also go into> my computer>control panel>add/remove programs and check whats in there now. the secret is in the >>>>>DATES<<<<< you can search your PC for files (any files) created on a particular date} say 3-25-05 every thing went slow..... so anything created on that date you can usually DELETE! always delete things very cautiously and slowly...is the rule. until you get back to happy town. outfished 04-07-2005, 09:37 AM Hmm sounds like a trojan if your deleting files and they come back. Could be buried in your registry is my guess. Looking for suspicious exe's is a good start. Be very careful with what you delete! I would search every exe that is running in your task manager (contol, alt delete, task manager) and search it in google before tossing it. You can try other spyware removal tools such as spybot and/or microsofts Antispyware. I run these as well as Adaware, of course not at the same time! You can also do a spyware scan upon bootup, before that pesky EXE has a chance to lauch itself. Good hunting! mrmacey 04-07-2005, 09:46 AM about 50 hours later reading and trying scans I found E accelerator program has a stop sign it cleaned everything 1500 files were infected computer is back to normal got my money back from webroot it is a Junk program in my books norton too couldnt pick this up looking for a good program E accelerator works Guarenteed outfished 04-07-2005, 10:31 AM about 50 hours later reading and trying scans I found E accelerator program has a stop sign it cleaned everything 1500 files were infected computer is back to normal got my money back from webroot it is a Junk program in my books norton too couldnt pick this up looking for a good program E accelerator works Guarenteed Glad to hear your problem has been corrected. Not a huge norton's fan, prefer McAfee. Although Nortons scan disk isn't so bad. What was the infection BTW? Just curious  mrmacey 04-07-2005, 01:14 PM 7117,5834, etc!! etc!!
