Living here in central mass i dont often find salty stuff in shops but i did find some saltsticks. Has anyone tried the 9' convench? Or any other saltstick for that matter. I think it was rated 1-4oz. Im considering it but wanted to get an idea of what yall think of em. Thanks.

Originally I had the Fenwick HMG model which snapped using a 1oz lure on my second cast. Purefishing replaced the rod with a 10' Saltstick. It has a solid tip and it looks like it might have slightly thicker walls, thus stronger, but I havent used it yet.

My experience with the 9' 1-4 oz saltstick is that the guides where too small and that the tip guide was cheap junk (wore grooves in it with 15# mono). You can get a much better rod for less money with a tsunami or tica.

Good point. Thats true about the guides, especially the stripper guide.

I've got an 8' spinner that I use for a tube-n-worm rod. I don't like it as much for plugging, too heavy for my plugs. The guides are too small and I already replaced a tip. Good backbone for turning a fish in the rocks though.

Thanks a lot guys. Im using a tica 10' right now but want something in the 9'-9'6" range. Dont think im going to be getting the fenwick. I did notice the guides were looking a bit on the small side.

I am pretty sure the star stellar series rods are around the same price as the Fenwicks and are lot better. I have had the 9' in conventional and am currently using the 10' spinner, it is awesome for eeling and throwing plugs up to 3oz.
