theSURF121 04-15-2005, 06:00 AM There have been reports of schoolies in Peconic Bay, Long Island , only 50 or so miles from western R.I. This Tuesday will be 74deg out so they should be showing...
Surfcastinglife 04-15-2005, 07:18 AM :err: i really just need to cast, reel in, repeat for a few hours or i may go crazy :err:
Moses 04-15-2005, 08:11 AM From a freshwater perspective, I've had some fun these past couple of weeks with my son. Some bass, pickerel and trout.
Saltwater is another story. I've tried a few local rivers with no luck but it sure was nice getting out there in your waders and taking a few casts. Going to try again this weekend but will be heading much farther south to concentrate on some rivers and salt ponds.
jsullivan 04-15-2005, 08:15 AM just holdovers but lots of em and my buddy lucked into a LARGE the other night good fish for anytime of year size it was cool
Peter Lajoie 04-15-2005, 09:02 AM 10 or 11 fish total last night, 27 to 33 inches, it really slowed down.. :smokin:
so far i have put in 20 minutes of serious fishing (not plugtesting) and came up with 3 schoolies. Schoolies on a 10 ft surfrod arent too exciting :laughs:
kevinrut 04-15-2005, 10:21 AM Anyone catching anything on the Jersey Shore yet? I haven't been out...working on the boat. Hoping to get on the water next weekend.
Notaro 04-15-2005, 11:23 PM I have been catchign raibow trouts and yellow perch and sunfish. When do largies and smallies show up? I want to catch them. They are thrilling to catch, but not as good as stripers. It calms my mind because I have been Thai boxing and studying. I need to get out and kick back soon.
Joe, they're there all the time. They don't go anywhere :fishslap:
Notaro 04-15-2005, 11:58 PM trouts or stripers. chris? how is thing going in your local waters? wanna hook up soon?
Joe, haven't hit the salt yet, and with working 70 hours next week I won't have the energy next weekend either. We can probably hit one of my spring spots the following weekend though if you want.

TunaCell 04-16-2005, 05:19 AM Fished every day this past week and averaged about 5 fish a trip, with seven being the highest amount, all 12-15". Even got a two for one deal yesterday.
GBOUTDOORS 04-16-2005, 07:20 AM All I can say is :faga:
Mr. Sandman 04-16-2005, 07:43 AM I've just thawed out! My fishing gear is still stowed. This AM at 5 I crawled up in the space, grabbed the herring net and bucket and boots and nabbed a pail of herring. It was great to hear the sound of the running water and socialize with the guys at 5:30am.
Most bass this time of year are small. If you go ultra light and fish the rivers it can be fun but I will not hit the surf till 50 deg water. (couple more weeks I figure)
In the meantime,I have enough yard work and boat projects to get done now so I don't have to do these when they actually show up.
Any reports of Macs or cephalopods?

ejk002 04-16-2005, 07:56 PM We put our boat in and I took my son out for a few hours this morning, I think I threw everything in our box at them but nothing after a few hours. We fished Providence River and made run into the Barrington & Warren River.
I did mark fish though so I promised my son another try at his 1st bass tomorrow.
Wish us luck !

Moses 04-21-2005, 09:23 AM Finally rid myself of the skunk last night after work. Fished an outgoing tide at a favorite river of mine and caught quite a few schoolies between 14-20 inches. Boy did that feel nice.......
