I was told today that paypal charges a 3% fee and that is why some people on Ebay won't accept paypal as a form of payment. Is there any truth to this?

There is definitely a fee and it is relatively small. I'm not sure exactly but 3% sounds close.

Yes its 3% - and its the best deal going unless you want to get a merchant account and a payment gateway. PayPal sales dominate EBAY. You look for another route but it better be seemless.

If you are an online only merchant, (like me) you are considered riskier because you are not swiping the card in person - so MC & VISA are around 2% (2.38% sounds right) plus monthy fees if you don't do a certain volume. Amex is even higher that's why so few places take it.

So....to make a 10% profit on an item you need to mark up an item about 14% - because anything you get wholesale that is destined for a PayPal transaction is automatically depreciated by 3%....If you are selling an item on Ebay don't forget to factor in those insertion fees too!

See - we don't need to make anything in this country! We got corporations charging high fees for mechanized transactions and their not paying nearly any tax on the profits! Sure beats making a durable good.

I just did a transaction with high country fly shop using pay pal. Ordered items on 3/5 all seemed well then nothing showed up. Called them said they would ship out in 2 days. well that was 2 weeks ago and nothing.
was awarded the Resolution today . They still never shipped the items and never intended to ship.
