I loaded up the Jeep last night...rods, tackle bags, etc......gassed it all up so all I would have to do is jump in this am and I am off...... I get in...turn the key and pump the gas pedal a couple times to get the fuel there (she is old) and on the second push of the pedal....."SNAP".... :crying: accelerator cable snaps! :bc: So....not to be deterred, I transfer all my gear to my truck and off I go.....no fish but what a b-e-a-uitful day to be aggravated! :uhuh: Lucked out, found a cable (20 years old I would be afraid it was not available) fixed in 5 minutes when I got home and it turns ou to be a blessing in disguise....the cable was so loose before that it was not idleing properly......now it runs 1000 times better! :kewl:

It could have been worse....I could have been someplace far away when it happened other than in my driveway!

but i question your practice of sleeping with all your (works of art) lures
and cherished rods and reels sitting in your jeep overnight un protected...
perhaps you live in a trustworthy neighborhood which is fine and happy town
but it would cause you very harmful stress if some lowlife decided to relieve you of all of your gear.....

yes be thankful the snap happened in the driveway....

i remember driving home one day to the mountains and just as i climbed the very last hill which was almost to steep to walk up.... i ran out of gas on the flat of the hilltop instead of being stranded out in the hot desert.....and all i had to do was barely give a nudge and i coasted the rest of the way home. :boots:

BigFish, It doesn't matter where you live. Habs had his stuff robbed from his truck in small town USA a while back......

That woulda really been awful if it happened at the Race or in one of the cuts on the Back. My own sled decided to blow the fuel pressure regulator as soon as I got home last year. Fuel at 80lbs. doesn't burn it goes into the crankcase. I dodged a "fun" time ,too. :wiggle: :nailem:

seriously tho....STRESS IS WHAT KILLS EVRYONE more so than cancer ,heart attacks and everything else combined.....and getting ripped off is the worst stress there is....and i firmly believe that it (being ripped off that is) makes you physically ILL very quickly....not to mention the amount of trouble bigfish would get into when he squeezed the neck of a thief caught in the act
so hard that his head exploded like a big zit..... so my point was: dont take the risk of loosing your gear.... because your setting yourself up for serious trouble just to save what? 20 minutes labor....Aint worth it!

Oh Yes, he did not mean me...I would take the plugs but would have left the rods with the corroded guides :gorez:
