Some of you know me, some of you don't. Whatever. I got this e-mail today that said something about the Intel/ Microsoft merger. The person who sent it to me (a lawyer who is a friend of a friend, yeah I know how that works) was a firsthand witness. To make a long story short, for every person I forward the e-mail to I recieve a couple hundred bucks, and whoever it forwards it to others gets the same, and it continues to add up down the line. I know this sounds like a pipe dream, might be, but I took a stab at it. Worst thing that happens is that you get spam mail (who doesn't get that already???). So, has anyone heard of this? I guess there was a big deal between Pepsi and Gen Electric and they did something like this and HAD TO PAY UP PER COURT ORDER. If you know anything about this or are intersted please e-mail me ASAP. I'll send you the details.... Call me crazy but it's easy enough to forward a freaking message and what do I have to lose?? This message is severely condensed, if you want e-mail me, if not ......

BTW, the claimed check she saw was for over 4K. Like I said, call it a pipe dream on my part but it already has well over 300 forwards between webs of my friends...

Hey Dave - how's living out west??

Hopefully this one is different from the previous scams but I see one of these every month or two and haven't seen a legit one yet...

John, Things are pretty good out here. I'm making plans to go out to CO and Montana in the spring to do some trout fishing and backacking. Other than that I haven't found a job in a month!! Lots of deer out here where I mountain bike. I mean tons...I e-mailed Microsoft to get to the bottom of it. I am just the messenger..

179- if you re-read the post I didn't ask you if you wanted to waste your time. Thanks for the thoughts though. I'm sure alot of other people thought the same thing, just didn't take the time to express it...

Well, we know you already found deer out there ;) . Good luck on hearing from Microsoft, they can be difficult to get thru to at times... You'll most likely hear "spam" from them if you get a reply. Even if it is true, you're likely not going to find someone in the know...

Goodluck and send back some Montana pics....

John, Being a computer guy, have you ever heard of this stuff being true? I have heard of it before but never have been approached with it. I really have nothing to lose. BTW, I didn't even consider the possibility of this being bad board etiquette-sp? Remove the post if so. I tried your old "Redbone" address but it didn't work. I'll give you some royalties if I get lucky!!!

Dave, you put up enough a disclamier about ignoring it, don't worry... Being a computer guy,I have rarely heard anyhting remotely true about these. I also know that the 2 favorite compaines of accused of monopoly status are MS & Intel and that the two of them merging would be like Exxon/Mobile merging with General Motors, never gonna happen. It's probably just hogwash.

The best e-mail is always john@striped-bass.com ... That other account got cut when AT&T became too much of a chore to use as a backup....

Royalties :D OK

East Tide,
Go over to www.snopes.com & search under Microsoft or Intel or both & you'll see several variations of this particular urban legend...probably worthwhile to bookmark that snopes.com address because these things turn up frequently & you can check them out over there...
