View Full Version : Where is an EPO when you need one?
CpCdtrucker 05-19-2005, 09:06 PM I caught a group of Orientals tonight with a cooler full of short fish at the canal. I saw them catch one but I didn't see what they did with it. When I walked by the cooler was flopping around and when I asked them what they got. They guy says mackeral. I had to look since it was dark and I have never seen a mack caught at night. I cleared them out pretty fast. The word arrested seemed to get them moving. I got their plate and I will have my brother run it to see wherer they are from.

likwid 05-19-2005, 09:23 PM don't mention "arrest" to them next time and call the EPO instead.
BrianS 05-19-2005, 09:23 PM I couldnt tell for sure.. but where I was tonight looked like there were a few shorts that were fileted and dumped in the water... I doubt they were even 24"

Roseneath 05-21-2005, 12:05 AM I fish in mostly secluded areas... how often do you guys see shorts being taken? When you see this happening do you approach them? Or just call the EPO?
BEETLE 05-21-2005, 04:38 AM slash their tires. :btu:
Raven 05-21-2005, 05:31 AM is a very cool place to go....i've been in there a few times and talked with the fisheries biologist and enforcement too. It's quite informal and all made of wood ,tons of info to be had....and very nice people.
missing link 05-21-2005, 06:20 AM You should see the short fish carcass's at the Warhem Narrows behind M&D's, the other day I counted 4, 20" stripers and a very small flounder striped to the bone, and you wonder why there are hardly and more blue crab back there either the poachers take everything
Link Sr.
They were doing the same at the watertown falls yesterday. Most of those guys have been arrested before, but with the small fines and slap on the wrist they keep coming. Striped bass for sushi is worth some money$$$$. It's sad to say they just dont learn. best thing to do is call the EPO's, the more they bust them the big the punishment.
killerlexus 05-23-2005, 12:46 PM the guys that filet the fish are usually white people, because asians dont filet their fish. in boston and north shore its mostly white people and spanish people that are taking the shorts and dog fish and skates and large EELS home :yak: in water town you have those white guys with live wells taking wayyyyyy more then 25 fish. they got the whole school in the back of the truck. :eek5: they go back and forth to the falls alllllllllllll day. i guess they make alot of $$$$ selling them to the bait shops and stores because they are there all day long , on the days you can net herring.
likwid 05-23-2005, 12:49 PM 2 carcasses at one of my spots yesterday, one keeper, one sub keeper.
