Work: 508-674-7900 Fax: 508-674-8021 Address: 191 Stafford Road Fall River, MA 02721-2554 :chatter :chatter Roger 05-24-2005, 07:12 AM Your local tackle shop normally contracts with someone to repair reels. For convenience, I'd try there first. likwid 05-24-2005, 07:56 AM Whats actually wrong with it? I'm sure some people on here can give you some help. :D BasicPatrick 05-24-2005, 10:27 AM MikeCC (on this board) from M & D's is a board sponsor and when the shop is not off the hook can even do on the spot repairs. I junked a reel this weekend and Mike was kind enough to do the repair right there on the spot....top quality service from a nice real shop... Maloney 05-24-2005, 10:33 AM likwid, I put in smoothies and a new worm gear for the levelwind. when i tried it out, the spool would bind-up someplace inside the left side plate where the mags are. so i have taken it all apart a few times, but that "catch" point or whatever won't go away. i even took out the new worm gear and put back the old one since it appeared the new one wasn't an exact fit (which i doubt since i bought it from the hatteras guys at the msba show; i put something together wrong.). i went down to my local pond to try it out, and when i took it apart again, there was white plastic shavings inside the left plate: some thing is not meshing correctly with the large white plastic gear inside the plate. maloney BrianS 05-24-2005, 11:03 AM I would second Bucko's Theyve done a nice job with my reels the last few years.. (not a knock on Mike and M+D's, Ive just never had any work done there, but I did buy my last setup there) fishaholic18 05-25-2005, 12:12 AM They are pretty simple reels, I'll look at it if you want. mikecc 05-25-2005, 05:32 AM you started to strip the plastic levelwind gear.just pop the old off and pop new on. Just make sure you got all the white plastic shavings out. Maloney 05-25-2005, 09:06 PM Mike, do you have the parts? mikecc 05-25-2005, 09:09 PM I got them Maloney 05-29-2005, 02:43 PM Mike, the white washer looks good. I didn't strip it badly. I wonder if the smoothies change the distances between parts and the brass gear that turns the white gear is now too far away from it. I havn't had a chance to go to someone to fix it. Maloney 05-31-2005, 02:33 PM A Big Thank You to Mikecc for helping me out today. He checked out the reel and was able to do what had to be done. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
