My mother gave me this picture yesterday. First of all because it seems that I am the family archivist and also because I am in it. It might not be my first trip to the ditch but it was probably close to it. I have distinct memories of trying to throw a drop line into the canal and also I have an equal amount of memories of my Uncle Les pulling the hook out of my shorts. My sister Pat and I must have been given the bury the mackeral guts detail given that we have digging implements in our hands. I also remember my aunt, whom I wont mention by name, eating the mackeral that the adults caught. Is there anyone else who can remember going to the ditch for the first time when there weren't any access roads or scussett pier?

It is better to have fished and lost than never to have fished at all.

You're the one on the left, I can see the High Irish Forehead (runs in my family too ;) ) like Gerry Callahan (King Forehead)... just kidding :D ;) :p

Somewhere I have pictures of fishing with my Grandfather, pretty sure it's Sandy Point in MD, where I'm about 4 years old. He has a couple rods spiked with ABU6000 reels (before Garcia) while me & sis are playing in the sand.

Incedentally, I used those ABU6000 reels until about 3 years ago when they were cleaned & retired...

I'm going to see if I can find those pics... (will also display High Irish Forehead Syndrome ;) )

BTW - there was an add in the paper, looking for law enforcement officers for W. Tisbury....

What's the year that pic was taken? Looks late 50's to early 60's.
