The 23 pounder I got a couple of weeks ago was my personal best. It was a great way to kick off the season.

Stripers: my biggest was 24lbs from the shore at the age of 14 now I generally get a few fish in the high teens the past few years. I'm aiming for a another 20 + this year.

Non stripers is a different story, I've had luck with Tuna, and a damn big bull shark in the bahamas but it still hasn't lead to my favorite species the elusive 40lb + striper from the surf.

42lb Quanny 1993 - back to back 40lbers- Gallilie 1997, 53lber fall 1998, 45lber august 1995 Cape Cod , 38 to 41lbs-5 fish Block Island fall 1996-to many 30s to mention :jump: :jump:

You Cant pick the size of fish, only put yourself in a position to catch fish, size is luck, sure there are known spots that hold big bass from the shore but still, there is know way of knowing whats in there..size of fish is luck.I think the most important thing a fisherman can do is put in the time, the more you fish the greater the odds, a plug has to be in the water to catch! This seems to be a great year for large bass, and I would certainly fish june hard its the best month, after this the fall gives you your best chance at a cow!

Biggest fish, 46#, eel, Outer Cape.

Biggest fish on a lure, 40#, bucktail, Wasque Point, MV.

Biggest fish dead-sticking bait (I don't do it very much), 33#, fresh squid, Plymouth Beach.

Biggest weighed bluefish, 19#, Roberts plug, East Beach, MV. I released one that might have been bigger, caught on cut pogy, Democrat Point, LI.

Many in the mid-upper 40's from shore, bunker, eels and poppers from beachs from Scituate to Hull. I'm fairly certain I dropped one mid-upper 50's one day in Scituate, but never put her on the sand.

From a boat 52 and 55 lbs are my two largest, both from Hingham harbor on live bunker.
