View Full Version : Bombers and snaps
spence 06-02-2005, 01:59 PM I've always tied Bombers direct to the split ring, but would there really be any difference in just removing the split and using a snap...or is this just not as good in the long run?
Lazy minds want to know :kewl:
thanks,

BigFish 06-02-2005, 02:02 PM I cut the splits off and use the breakaway clips with them....work fine.....catch fish! :kewl:
Poser! ;)
reelecstasy 06-02-2005, 02:02 PM I just go breakaway to the splitring, but whatdoIknow
spence 06-02-2005, 02:04 PM Cool, thought I'd ask before I removed all my splits :gu:

Try doing that in the dark, its hard enough in the day.Pain in the a$$ trying to get anything with a split ring onto a breakaway.Poppers with a deep cup are also difficult.
Do what BF said.Eliminate the split ring.Or just use a good 'ol coast lock snap.
I'm not a big fan of the breakaways and unfortunately I tied a load of leaders
using them without ever actually seeing if I liked them :smash: .

I do at night, without much sight
I can in the rain, I can on a train.........
I have a harder time gettin my waders down to relieve myself than I do workin with breakaways
spence 06-02-2005, 02:27 PM The split on a big Bomber is not easy to get into the small breakaway snap.

I found pulling off a set of stockingfoot neoprenes at 3am easier than trying put
a bomber(with splitring) on a breakaway.
Seriously though... I have partial numbness in my righthand fingers from an accident and I thought the breakaways would be easier.I found just the opposite for me.
Needles, dannys etc. are easier for sure.
reelecstasy 06-02-2005, 03:48 PM for sure you need some dexterity to use them. I am just a big fan of them, not so much on the split rings but in general..(gonna take my split rings off tonight) :hihi:
I always take the split ring off and use a clip. however if you run out of clips, your screwed unless you tie a perfection loop... a clinch will totally kill the action.

BigFish 06-02-2005, 10:17 PM Sorry Spence....just send that plug back and I will find it a good home!
