JohnR 12-26-2001, 09:43 AM OK - I liked Santa's Pluggage - thanks much to Don & Charlie from Weekapaug for donating the Gibb's plugs to the cause...
I'd like to continue that a little from the site and donate a few more things from S-B but I'll need to check our "stock" and see what we can do here.
Now New Years might be a little too close (and I won't even know what we have for a couple days) so how about we offer up to the fish gods a drawing on Kwonza? Kwonza Pluggage? When is Kwonza anyway?
Any thoughts on how we should do this one?

STEVE IN MASS 12-26-2001, 10:32 AM John - Kwanza is today.........sorry.......
JohnR 12-26-2001, 11:03 AM Sounds excellent Mike, I'll e-mail you. Thanks....
Thanks for the tip Steve - I'm sorry, I thought that was 2 weeks into January. We'll come up with another "Date" as I don't want anyone thinking I'm making light of Kwanza.
So We'll need another date/Holiday for the next Pluggage...
STEVE IN MASS 12-26-2001, 12:01 PM Well John, I think it's Russian Orthodox Christmas that is about two weeks into January...........that might be your answer. ;)
I had a friend when I lived in Jersey who's family was Russian, and they used to leave their tree up until about the third week in January. I know Xmas tree dealers in areas where there a lot of Russian families don't discount their trees well after Christams because they get snatched up by those who celebrate the Russian Christmas.
As far as Kwanza, I only know cause it happens to be on a calender I have at home.
It's also Boxing Day today....anybody know what that's about.....here's a hint.....albeit a vague one...year's ago, on "Punch the Clock", Elvis Costello sang:
"And from this day, every day will be Boxing Day........."
JohnR 12-26-2001, 04:20 PM Boxing day, when all of the boxes get loaded up with wrapping paper, put out at curbsides and are "territorily marked" by the local canine & feline populations...No?
Ok, China's Bastille Day?
TheSpecialist 12-26-2001, 05:30 PM Anyway is fine by me your still the boss. Just count me in.
RickBomba 12-26-2001, 10:02 PM Merry Christmas Guys!
Boxing Day, was, I believe, the day when the "lords and ladies of the manor" gave presents to their servants.
I think it's still big in Canada and the UK.
Anyhow, Christmas was great for me...a nice break from the 100+ hour week at the new restaurant.
We are starting to get busy...anybody that's in the Needham, MA area PLEASE check us out.

Sorry John,
Being part Canadien, just like in England Boxing Day is, I believe December 26th, how about 3 Kings Day January 6th or there abouts?
How about this...Tuesday January 8th, in 1907 President Theodore Rooselvelt issued an executive order mandating the prefix USS for United States Ship, for vessles of the U.S. Navy, or we could call this day the official Striped-Bass.com day.

STEVE IN MASS 12-27-2001, 05:51 AM Boxing Day is indeed December 26th. Rick had it right, for the current way it is celebrated, anyway. Long ago, it was the one day that the masters became the servants and the servants became the masters. It is still celebrated in England, Canada, and Bermuda, among other places.
So now you know........
