I'm sure many of you are paying at least some attention to the LNG debate that's all over the northeast.

This was in the current Sakonnet Times.

No dredging for LNG

Attorney General patrick Lynch notified Weaver's Cove Engery LLC on May 25 of his intent to fight any attempt by the energy company to bypass approval from the State of RI to proceed with the extensive dredging of Mount Hope Bay that would be required before an LNG terminal becomes operational.

"In order for Weaver's Cove Energy to successfully site and LNG terminal in Fall River, it would have to conduct extensive dredging of Mount Hope Bay, including a portion of the bay located in RI, "Mr. Lynch said. "Dredging of the bay would be so intensive that it's estimated operations would be conducted 24 hours a day, seven days a week, over the course of three years. Such activities would disturb the existing ecological balance, damage the environment and disrupt boating on our waters."
