Cooperative Research Grants Available for Recreational and Commercial Fisheries in the Northeast; Proposals Due July 10

NOAA wants to partner with scientists and members of the recreational and commercial fishing communities to undertake timely fisheries research. Project topics should focus on commercial and recreational bycatch and discard issues, socioeconomic data on the recreational fisheries, or ecological relationships as they relate to rebuilding stocks. Research projects that develop and implement strategies for enhancing safety at sea and industry-led training for public sector employees on commercial fishery practices will also be considered. These research priorities were identified by the NOAA Fisheries Service Northeast Regional Office (NERO) Cooperative Research Partners Program, in consultation with the Research Steering Committee of the New England Fishery Management Council.
