I went fishing over the weekend and when I got to the beach I saw a divers flag out about 30 yards out in the water.

How much distance do I give the diver? I didnt want to snag the guy/girl and I dont know anything about diving, so I dont know how far they stray from the flag, so I left and went to another spot.
Just curious I dont run into it often but would like to know?

damn good question.... I have no idea what the size limits are for divers :hihi:

it depends... for example, if you are fishing the end of the jetty at the canal on the power plant side, and you were there first, and the divers come and even swim into your line, you might be apt to cast a little closer than if they already have a healthy distance.

No size limits on either sex! :biglaugh:

If it is a buoy or float with a flag there are divers underneath towing it. The flag may be a little ways behind depending on the current and how much line they have out. If there is a boat with a flag, such as on the antenna, the divers should be underneath it in the general area. As a diver also, I like to see boaters keep a little distance. Nothing like a six arm umbrella rig cruising by your nose!! lol Or a 10" plug with 2 giant treble hooks.....

You wernt by chance at Pegotty Beach in Scituate?

or do you just tell the diver there are no bugs down there and get him to leave you his scuba gear and catch bag. Then you go and scoop up all the lob's ??? :devil2:

You're supposed to give them 100 yards. Even when you are there first and they come in and set up less than 100 yards away from you. :af:

I use to do alot of diving...if there were people at one spot fishing I'd just go to another spot...bass are as friendly as any fish can get...hand fed quite a few,,stroked their backs,,they'd swim off about 10' and turn around and come right back for more goodies...ever look a bass in the eye 12" away 30' down...they could care less about you.

becareful thats a dismissable offence

If I see a divers flag before I start fishing , Ill move somewhere else . If the flag is there after I start fishing the diver is fair game . Just like surfers if they try and take over my spot after Ive been fishing it they are targets on boards .

i am a avid diver and tend to dive where there are not fisherman. if you see a diver i would move beacause they can become tangled up in your mono which is a real pain in the ass to cut tangled mono aroud your regualtor hoses 20ft down.
