i am going to fish the msba tournament this weekend and i was wondering what size fish to draw the line at . i have been fishing for over 30 years and i can count on 1 hand the number of fish i have kept. i am not a huge fish eater but anything i have kept i ate , but i do not want to take fish just for the sake of a weigh in , i will be checking the hot line and moitoring channel 69 ,but i will be there from the get go so i was wondering where to draw the line on the keepers , i am thinking nothing under 40" anybody have any thoughs

On the form you filled out to register, there are complete rules listed on it....if you don't have it....go back to your tackle shop where you signed up and get a copy. Not sure if the tourney rules are on the website but you can check.

The hotline (617) 984-0530 will be updated on Friday and Saturday evenings, what we will do is announce the weight of the 1st place fish and the 10th place fish, as well as the juniors 1st and 6th, so you will know if you have a fish that has a chance to place.
Friday during the day, we'll have to use our best judgement to determine whether to keep or release.

the rules are not in question , 28" min. but i will not bring in a small keeper just for the sake of a weigh in , my question is best guess for a realistic minimum size fish so that no fish is waisted ?,my best guess 40" although i heard through the grape vine that the gentleman that kicked butt at the canal turny is fishing this turny :eek ,i'm not in that league ,but sometimes lady luck steps up :humpty:

Blue Oyster....I agree with you. If the fish is not at least 40 inches I won't bother. Let them go and live another day. More people should think like that. :) Bob Motta that you speak of has his bad days too to be sure......to be the best you have to beat the best, but a fun weekend will be had none the less. Enjoy the air, the ocean and the experience. I know I will.
