Hey Guys ,
Hopeing for some help , I just bought a boat and was tring to figure out the relationship between speed/how much line to let out to get to a depth X . Anybody have a formula or a rule of thumb ?
This is my first time trolling in my own boat with my own stuff.
Thanks in advance

I do minimum speed for bass.....less then 3 mph.....and usually go 4X - 5X depth for amount of line let out....asumming I am using wire......if in 20 feet of H2O, let out 90' min of line.

With wire the rule of thumb is ten feet deep for every 100 feet of wire out.

Proably more like one inch for evry thousand feet you let out :) You'll need to use drails and figure out how deep you'rre getting with X amount of weight.
Or you could use planers, and figure it out. Planers or z-wings will get you down further with less line out than drails.
Thanks for the replys , I'll see what I can do , sounds like I'll have to experament and see what works .

lead core 4/5 feet per color depending on speed , if you dont want to get into that , the new superbraids will go deeper than mono , power pro ect. you have to play around every lure ,tube ,ect will be different on every different type of line . you learn real quick when you give a few $10.00-$30.00 rigs to the bottom monster :D
