View Full Version : Why doesn't he just hop in my back pocket..
The Dad Fisherman 07-01-2005, 08:29 AM I went out last night after work for a few casts and I'm fishing this river outlet. 1st cast I hook into a decent fish 29-30'". there's this guy across the river watching me and sees me bring it in and put it back.
Now the place I'm fishing is probably 30 feet across to the other side of the river where he is. I'm standing on this rock thats 5 feet below the wall on my side. 2 minutes later I look up and the Guy is standing on the wall directly above me casting over MY HEAD.....he was so close I could have turned around and Whacked him in the shins w/ a Boga Grip...WTF
He's got his kids w/ him so I really didn't want to make a scene in front of his kids so I packed up and went to another spot.
I thought about going over to the other side and catching another fish just to piss him off :bshake:
BigFish 07-01-2005, 08:40 AM You should have said something to him like.....do you have to fish on top of me? :)
BrianS 07-01-2005, 09:00 AM That crap happens a little too ofter.
couple weeks ago out in the boat in RI, we were fishing not even 50 feet from shore.... fishing twords the shore... popped a small bluefish...
A boat a couple hundred yards away saw this and started trolling tword us...
They either didnt speak english or didnt care.. because they acted stupid, went right over our lines (eels out) and went between us and the shore... Mind you ALL of naragansett is right behind us..
Its times like that it makes me happy to have heavy plugs with lots of hooks because they might not of understood or cared our yelling but they did when I casted and snagged up ALL their lines.
oooops! sorry!
The Dad Fisherman 07-01-2005, 09:05 AM I know, but I have this thing when kids are around, even though he's a jack-ass he's still their hero....but I did say something an hour later to the knucklehead that cast his rig right in front of me....even tough he was 30 yards down from me.
Its amazing how straight they can cast when you look them in the eye and ask them if they are F-ing serious.
reelecstasy 07-01-2005, 09:17 AM I applaud your reaction, stricly because the kids were there. He should know better, that's for sure but calling someone out in front of there kids just isn't right. Attaboy TDF on your sense of maturity :claps:
-it pisses me off to no end when people sidle up like that. :scatter: Usually when I start have "angler errors" when casting :hihi:
BigFish 07-01-2005, 11:49 AM Slingah and I were fishing a favorite spot from shore a few weeks ago....outgoing tide, and this boat comes along, anchors up and starts live lining herring right into our casting zone....they were right on top of us!!! So they were using balloons as floats so I casted over the line, hooked the rig (herring and all) and just played stupid to make a point! Why have a boat if you have to encroach on a couple of surf guys! Burn all that fuel, all the money in the boat and they are fishing where we were??? If we had been hooking up when they did this.....I would have been dropping plugs into their boat.....kids or no kids!
Homerun04 07-01-2005, 01:37 PM I thought about going over to the other side and catching another fish just to piss him off He would have probably been too stupid to even realize what message you were sending him....
afterhours 07-01-2005, 02:18 PM i hate morons. good self control tdf.
riverrat2 07-02-2005, 09:33 PM Bigfish I think I know the spot you are talking about and if I do that has happened to me many times before at that same spot. I have had boats pull up about 30 yards in front of me and starting chumming. DOnt they understand? I had been catching fish prior to this on plugs until this idiot shows up. I try to stick it out and keep fishing while the whole time he is complaing that my casts are coming a bit to close to his boat.
BigFish 07-03-2005, 04:41 AM You got it right Max....just drop a few casts into his friggin boat, if that doesn't work....wade out give him a piece of your mind and punch him in the head! :hihi:
beachwalker 07-03-2005, 07:38 AM If the jack-off crowds me on the beach I just hope that I can rip a nasty one. that will clear them out for sure.
 :yak6:
Tagger 07-03-2005, 07:41 AM Nobody should ever cast over someones head ,never ever . If the line loops over the tip, and he cast whatever he's casting is going to be in your face fast ..I've seen adults cast over thier own kids heads. I've nicely said something when thinking ,You F%@^& Moron you want a treble hook inbeded in your kids eye !!
Karl F 07-03-2005, 08:35 AM Happens too often, and TDF, you did the right thing.. however keep in mind, braid will slice mono, when they cross :hee:
