Pt.JudeJoe 07-01-2005, 11:04 PM Ok - You gotta cut em up the eel - leave 8 in from the tail. breaka the backbone if you like for more wiggle Take some meat out of the front where you cut it,so you have some loose skin. Thread the hook thru it like a sluggo. Tie the loose skin over the ring that holds the swinging hook right up close to the head of the bob. Use black dacron if you can get it , or something similar. Now you have an 8 in eel with a kick ass 7/0 ss hook that goes where you want it ,in any kind of weather or water conditions. Store them in a kosher salt/water brine in the freezer. (it will not freeze , but preserves the eel like new for 2 million years ,or until you lose it) Take them out and fish them and just put them back in the brine when you're done. It's a great weapon for your arsenal that the old timers did very well with. read more at TATTOOSTACKLE.COM (yesteryear section on bobbing for bass)http://tattoostackle.com/eelbob_dz.php Notaro 07-01-2005, 11:07 PM thank you, joe. im going to pick them up at mikecc. hey, pete g told me that kelvar thread would do the trick. if u say that the loose skin goes over the ring, but i just have to elave the sinker exposed? Pt.JudeJoe 07-01-2005, 11:14 PM Yes , you tie it down right behind the lead head. If you tie it close enough ,you can even crimp down the collar of the head over the thread to protect it from the rocky bottom. This is the "Newport style" eel bob. The Clarke or "Jamestown style" has the skin cover the head .DZ schooled me on all of this .... { bows politely to the professor} Notaro 07-01-2005, 11:26 PM okay, im going to try that vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
