Too frigging much.. I see we ranked sixth worst Traffic destination for Fourth.. suprised we were'nt higher.... had one guy in store said his first and last trip to the cape, been here 3 hours, too many cars, he said, gonna turn aroud and go away.. another said he had 3 more days paid for, he didn't care, he is out.. he said, all ya do is sit in car, sit in car, sit in car, get where ya going, stand in line, stand in line... ain't his idea of relaxing, (me either)... so Flyover, Romney just OK'd making route 3 south 3 lanes all the way to canal, clog up the overtaxed antique roads more... I ain't long for this sandbar.... no more.... Pave paradise, put up a parking lot....
5 minute ride to work takes over half hour now... :hs: Too Much...

Rant Off.

Had to call 911 this weekend as I was cruising down the highway and almost buttpacked this dumb broad. Dead stop in the passing lane, just around a bend, no hazards on, waving her arms while standing right next to her car. She could have at least hopped the guardrail to stay out of harm's way. Some people have absolutely no common sense. :jester:

I made it off the Cape in record time Monday. Traffic was haulin' ass, no backup at the bridge. This was from 2-3 in the afternoon at what usually is a heavy traffic time. Guess the nice weather kept people on the Cape longer.
But you are right about the amount of cars during the day going everywhere :smash: parking lots full, stop and go. But that is mostly from Orleans back towards Sandwich. I am glad I chose a campground out in Weelfleet, much quieter out there, and plenty of ways around the traffic, what little there is.

If they ever add 2 lanes to suicide alley, it will ruin what is left of the Cape, that better not ever happen.
If they are making rt. 3 into 3 lanes all the way the the canal, it will just cause even more bottleneck at that flyover thingy which is stupid anyway.:smash:

I want to thank the Cape Codders very much for taking the cars away this weekend. I had to travel the 84 corridor on Monday afternoon and apparently everyone who usually clutters up the interstate between the NY Thruway and Hartford was out cluttering up Cape Cod....Made it home in RECORD time...

You picked the right day Bruce.... they all waited till today to leave.. backed up on average 8 miles for most of the afternoon, backed up to exit 11 at one point!

Hey Guys! First the worst is only here for two months. Most of that time the fishing stinks from the beach ( well almost most of the time), The people that come into your package store during those two months probably account for a a large percentage of your yearly business, if you fish the outer beaches at night you will be pretty much by yourself if you fish from the parking lots and if you do bump into somebody it is usually someone you know specially if you walk the beach far enough from the lots where you can't see the cars anymore ( most people don't leave sight of them, that's fact). If you fish the Race after midnight 99% of the fisherman are fast asleep in thier trucks. They all wake up and line up down past second rip and north of the self contained area. If you have lived here for more than five years you should know how to get from point a to point b using an alternative route (ie: backroads ) and no where and when to avoid certain roads. Karl, even out your way can get pretty desolate in the off season, like the time me and LaFleur were down your way fall trout fishing and we went into Flemings Donut shop in town and asked if she had any donuts other than what was on the shelf, "Nope she said, got a dozen this morning and those are the last six left, just coffee available after they are gone". This past weekend was the fourth of July, it happened that the 4th was a Monday and the weather Gods predicted beautiful weather for the weekend, the cards were against us right from the start. Chill out, it will pass, come second week of September the fishing will pick up, the water will clear, warm and full of bait, the kids will be back in school and when I drive down cape each night to fish it will be quiet from Orleans to Wellfleet and dead after the Wellfleet traffic light that goes into town by JP's. I wouldn't think of going on route 28 into Hyannis today though especially not the Mall vicinity, the horror! :kewl:

Friday afternoon I was heading to Falmouth from Sandwich and the further I went the worse the traffic was on 28 South (herading north of course :hihi: ). There was a big backup on the Bourne, 8 miles but half a mile on the Sagamore. Anyway, the Falmouth traffic was c r a w l i n g and there was no way I was going to go back thru that (even though my son had a good nap in the truck). So I hit the map, did the backroads thing, and made quick time back to Sandwich. I think some of those people are still on 28...

it only take's one road project and a detour sign for these folks to find those back roads...now even these are getting used more that found them.

True enough Steve, and it seems as though they ripping up every road around here these days. They are in the process of making RT. 151 in Falmouth and Mashpee a four lane hi-way. I can't believe it. It was a road in the middle of nowhere when we moved here 22 years ago. :yak6:
