I blew out a piston on Saturday. Does anyone have a recommendation for a local (New England) dealer that I can buy a pre-owned engine from? I would like to get something that might have a warranty. Any thoughts or experience information would be helpful.
Thanks.

Sorry to hear that Bonefish. Have you thought of getting a rebuilt powerhead? It may save you a lot of money.
Good luck

I called my local mechanic and he said it would probably cost around 5k or more. Obviously a newer engine would cost more but I would be in bad shape if this happened to a rebuilt engine again.

Try General Auto Salvage in Tiverton.

My brother bought a used engine at Parker Marine in Bristol and said he got great service from them.

Sorry Bonefish, I though you were looking for an engine for your truck!
Don't know just what size motor you are looking for, but you can check with Ocean House Marine, they always have used engines. (Oceanhousemarine.com) They are in Charlestown,RI
Monahans in Weymouth. 1st class dealer and they usually have some used engines.

Thanks for everyone's insight. I have contacted everyplace that was mentioned. The only people that have not gotten back to me is the Oceansmarina group. Either way, no luck to this point. I guess because I'm looking for a 20"s haft and hp between 150 and 200 it makes it a little more difficult. People have mentioned that I can buy brackets to take a longer shaft but I would rather avoid that if I could. Still looking.
Thanks
