I was fishing a yellow beachmaster Danny this weekend when an Osprey took three atempts at my plug and actually got it on the last one. At first I thought it mite have been trying to get a fish that was folliwing my plug, but after watching it crashing my plug as I tried to get it away I dont think that was the case. The Osprey ended up breaking the line and then dropping the plug about 300yds from the beach which is fine even tho I have caught alot of fish on it. I alway taught they were to smart to fall for a plug and with the amazing eye site they have they can make out the fake from the real. oh well just glad to see the bird was okay they are an amazing creature. I was just wondering if anyone has had this happened to them. i can see seagulls and pelicans grabbing lures, but birds of prey.

Yes but I didnt let'm get the plug :poke: On the same weird day a comorant was giving me a HUGE hassle. Did I mention the Tern attack? I honestly thought I was in a remake of the BIRDS.
I said enough and went home.

Yeah, I too had a cormorant attack my pencil. I don't think that they're very bright. I see a lot with a plug stuck in their breast.

Seagulls love the yozuri surface cruiser herring color, I've landed two on that. Thanks nightfighter  for helping me get it back the first time and showing me how to handle a bird. Seagulls love him.

like saltheart said.

it's a great compliment to the plug builder AND your presentation when a bird does that.

I love it when the tern hovers and actually dives at my offering. but it surely is better when the hunter comes from below :hihi: :hihi:

I don't know if this story is true. But a friend told me that he was plugging for bass on the Cape and a large bass took the plug and broke him off at the exact moment a gull hit the plug too. The bass and the gull were thrashing in the water, both hooked to the same plug.

The big bass kept taking the thrashing gull underwater, and eventually, they both disappeared.

Truth is stranger than fiction.

About 7 years ago, two buddies and I went out to western mass for the duck opener. We got out early, motored across this pond, and splashed our dekes. It was a slow morning, I took a woody, and not much else flew by. We were drinking coffee, eating sandwiches and basically shooting the breeze. All of a sudden we here this tremendous splash, and turn in time to see a hawk flying away with one of our dekes. He flew about 60 yards or so and realized it was a fake, and dropped it. It was quite a site.

I've had just about every seabird under the sun go for my gold/yellow Tattoo
Junior Swimmer. They don't quite attack it but they do spend a lot of time hovering over it.
