I am wondering what most of you choose between Seatow or Boat US for the just in case situation that something goes wrong. This is the first time I will be on the water in my own boat and having the family out on the water, I do think it is fairly cheap insurance. I would appreciate any thoughts / experiences.

I will mostly be boating in the Long Island sound / fishers island sound - Watch hill, south shore RI

Thanks

Hi,

I have used both and got reasonable service from both. The past few years, I have switched to Boat US because I'm covered on any boat that I'm on. Sea Tow used to be only 1 boat. They may have changed to be competitive. I also found that Boat US had a boat out of Waquoit and that's where I keep my boat. Make sure that they have a boat out of where you do most of your boating. The difference can be significant if they have to travel, especially in bad seas.

I guess a lot would depend on who mans your home port, but since I trailer all over I just went with SeaTow. If you tow I'd spend the extra $10 a year on the trailer insurance, you still need to pay as you go, but Seatow kicks in a good chunk of it.

There isn't a sea tow near me but i use them because of the $10 trailer option. Sea tow was also great at refunding my $$$ when i had to use US boat when i broke down. I really don't think there is a big difference.

I have a TowBoatUS with the same type of $10 trailer package, FWIW.
