Anyone know why a lop-top isnt turning on? (Gateway)
I did alot of self diagnosis combined with limited manual help..
Power supply is good; hit it with a meter and its putting out 19V
Battery has been going down hill for a while, but that shouldnt matter for start up should it?
Unplugged the PC card from the slot, still no go
Re-seated the Batt and hard drive
Now I'm thinking maybe something inside near the power supply was jarred loose?
The computer was running fine until i unplugged it and took it home from the office for the first time in months, now it doesnt turn on...
This computer has a lot of research and personal stuff (pics etc on it) so no matter what I want to save the hard drive...

Anyone know someone local (RI) who works on gateways?
Thanks!
Bryan

I would stop everything your doing and bring it over to PCW on Bald HIll rd (rt2) next to Kinkos & Namco. The owner, who is usually there with his wife Monday-Thursday Afternoons knows everything about laptops, and if he is there then they will just charge you a walk in fee and fix it within 10 minutes. Otherwise, if you get the long haired bozo techs :sleeps: , they will be gentle but probably not fix it and hold it there for a day or two until the owner can look at it.

If its a company computer they should pay the repairs too. Self diagnosing a pc is one thing, but once you start opening a laptop, it gets much much trickier.
