Last Sunday I headed up to my brothers place in southern Maine. I figured I'd leave a little later than usual after having fished Saturday for almost 20 hours straight. I leave the house around noon time, thinking I'd let the "beach" crowd clear the highway some. Three miles from The Hampton tolls, traffic is at a dead stop. It took me nearly an hour to reach the tolls, which I have an EZpass for, but that didn't matter because most of the people arriving at the tolls in the EZpass lane realize they should'nt be there and they are now zig zagging from one lane to another to get out of the lane their in! By now I'm rippin mad and I figure my EZpass probably saved me 5 minutes if that! I can't help but wonder how much fuel is wasted with all the cars just crawing along, stop and go for an hour so the state can get their lousy buck especially with the price of fuel these days. How much pollution is spewed into the air at the same time? I think what this country and auto makers need to do is install in every new vehicle an EZpass transmitter (they're cheap), take down all the tolls across the country and replace them with receivers and let the traffic move along. Something needs to be done before someone goes ballistic.

Yeh dude. People fly across 5 lanes of tolls as if they've never seen them before and don't know what to do. Although I'm guilty of consciously doing what my family likes to call "the a-hole". So when a lane on the highway is closing, I stay in it and fly by the mile-long line made up of all the premature lane changers until I'm at the barrels, and then I cram myself in. But I would never cause an accident over it -- I'm rude, but careful.

EZ Pass has come to NH. Up here in Rochester/Dover on a Monday afternoon I was stopped more than 1 miles from the Rochester Toll. Accident...NO...New EZ Pass.

Seems two lanes expand to three at the toll. The EZ Pass booth was designated right in the MIDDLE lane. So from a 1/2 mile away I finally got to see the EZ Pass lane but since I was in the two lanes, all I could do was look at the loooooon empty lane to the EZ Pass until I got within 100 yds or so.

Nice planning NH - You missed the boat again.
