I was a bit surprised and dissapointed to read the one guy talking about how much he likes to cook 22 inch striped bass on the grill all the time. zacs 08-17-2005, 07:56 AM I was a bit surprised and dissapointed to read the one guy talking about how much he likes to cook 22 inch striped bass on the grill all the time. Why be dissapointed if its legal? There are millions of small bass around. I would be more dissapointed if he said he loved throwing a 22#er on the grill. Thats good breed stock. 5/0 08-17-2005, 09:37 AM Is there some sort of strange slot limit in Maine that allows for keeping smaller bass?. I think it's one fish between 20"-26" and one trophy over 40". 5/0 Blitzseeker 08-17-2005, 11:08 AM As long as its legal it is fine with me, I just didn't realize they had a slot limit that allowed keeping fish that small up there. I'm used to MA RI regs. Pete F. 08-17-2005, 11:21 AM I think it's one fish between 20"-26" and one trophy over 40". 5/0 Not and, it is one or the other. Squibby17 08-17-2005, 12:54 PM I read the article as well. One guy is quoted " Last Night I had a 60 pound fish on my line, a real corker, longer than me and fat as one of those seals" .."I almost had it up on the pier but my pole broke, snapped right in two. I don't mind though. The night before I got a nice 22 incher" Sounds like a bunch of BS to me. First off how often do you hear about 60 lbers in Maine, or trying to pull a fish that size up on a pier. Not to mention being satisfied with a 22' fish from before. :bshake: Rockport24 08-17-2005, 01:24 PM ya I found that funny too, what kind of a fool would try and hoist a 60 pounder up a pier? fish stories will be fish stories I guess... outfished 08-17-2005, 02:26 PM Don't kid yourselves about big bass coming out of maine. I've seen 50's come out of some rivers up there. I agree about trying to hoist a cow onto a pier though. :tm: Sweetwater 08-17-2005, 03:33 PM I saw the article too. The caption is what cracked me up as the fish was refered to as being "oversized." The article also says the guy released the fish, but if you look at the picture, there is blood running out of the gills all the way to the tail fin.....that fish was either bled or was gut hooked. It died. I tried to get the picture off the globe website, but it's lousy resolution, you can't see the blood...but "oversized?" kippy 08-17-2005, 05:41 PM There is no way that fish was released alive..with the globe you got to take the good with the bad. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
