About 3 weeks ago I was meeting up with a buddy of mine on an early pre-dawn saturday am trip to a spot on a beach where we'd been picking up a few nice fish in a small hole we found. When we got there (3am) there was a whole family (4 or 5 guys &kids) of non-english speaking guys who just happened to be spread out right where we needed to be. Now you have never seen a bunch of guys fishing with less hope of actually catching a fish, and here it was 3 am and you could tell they'd been at it all night. I'm talking cheap walmart 7 foot sticks with that really heavy mono that casts like crap. One of em's casting out a polaris and letting it sit on the bottom.
So I went on their left side and my buddy went to their right and with our big sticks we could hit the edges of the hole and we got a few fish. During this time the family has done nothing, and all but 1 of them gives up in disgust and goes to sleep in the car. But that last guy, he just keeps at it, even though he hasn't had a hit all night.
When the family went up to the car, he moved to the right so I could have a bit more room. The next fish I caught was a nice fish (maybe 36"), and I offered it to him as a way for thanking him for moving over for me.. He was all excited and thanked me and took it up to the car. I told him to tell them he caught it :hee:
So this morning I went out again. I drive down to the beach and walk down to my spot @ 2am, and there's the whole family set up bait fishing in MY spot again. So I say hello and when the guy recognizes me, he says something in a language which I don't speak, and everyone of em shifts 10 yards to the right so I can have my spot on the left side of the hole. Second cast, I got a sweet 37" fish....
That was the only fish I got in 2 hours, but just the thought that they would all pick up and move over so I could fish that spot really made my day...
