Hey all. Rob Rockcrawler's headed up to Michigan to see his mom, and should be there after midnight some time. He got the call this morning that the hospital there had a brandy new set of lungs for Carol, and that she would go into surgery at 3:30 PM. Everyone is nervous about the transplant, but excited for her future recovery and return to a fully-functional everyday life. I've only had the pleasure of meeting her in person once, but Carol is a beautiful woman with a great personality. She's a generous, thoughtful lady and a very loving mother. So if you pray to someone, give him or her a shout-out for Rob's mom. If religion's not your thing, please keep her and her family in your thoughts. Thanks very much.

Nevermind that waiting stuff. :uhuh: I woke the sleeping beast, and apparently his momma made it thru surgery and is breathing on her own. Granted, this is half-asleep info, so I'm not sure how accurate it is. Suffice to say she made it. Woo! :hee: Yay! :wiggle: :btu: Yes! :bo: Yahoo! :beat: :D Word. :kewl: :bshake: Oh yeah, it was worth the whole slew of smileys.

Be thankful for the donation and the skill of the surgeons. Fill 'em up and use them for a long time. Congratulations.

Hope it all works out well for her and her family. P's &T's sent. I am an organ donor. I became one when I was diagnosed in 93' as be a potenetial candidate for a Heart TRansplant due to a viral infection, thankfully the good Lord saw fit to revert me back to normal, something they say only happens to one out of a 100 people. Since then though when I renew my drivers license I always make sure to have that designation on my license. Hey if I am dead what do I need those things for when they can help others? Please become an organ donor there are many people black, white, yellow, red Caucasion, Latino, Asian, large and very small, whatever, who could use a Heart, kidney, cornea, liver cause we are all the same on the inside and through your gift they will get a second chance at life. :walk: .

Alright, im gettin ready to go to the hospital right now. She is still in recovery and under anestesia, wont be conscious for a few more hours. Originally she was to get one lung, but circumstances dictated that she could get two. THe surgery took about 11 hours. The single lung procedure was supposed to take about 1-2 and go thru the back near the ribs. The double was thoraxic so its a lot more work. When the finished the surgery they let her breathe thru her new lungs just to make sure they would hold air i guess, now she is on a ventilator till she wakes up. Thanks for all the support guys, i will let ya know how things turn out here. Rob

Ive been going to the hospital everyday for the past 5 days now and my mom is doing great. The lungs are working good and she is feeling pretty good. She is walking around and talking to everyone and doing physical theerapy. She is supposed to be coming home on monday, maybe tuesday. A 7-8 day hospital stay for a double lung transplant is pretty amazing. The doctors are awesome. She got the procedure done at the University of Michigan hospital in Ann Arbor. Great place, and a really cool town too. Its just too damn far from the salt water. I could really use a night of slinging eels to break the stress of a hospital.
