Took my first foray out in a kayak today. Had a blast. Got a sleigh ride courtesy of a 30" Blue using a spook that The Dad Fisherman gave to me last week! I quickly learned that my 9' surf rod wityh its long handle extension itsn't the ticket for a kayak. The extension keeps getting in the way. Any suggestions on a 7 to 8 foot rod with a short handle that will still throw plugs up to about 2.5 ounces and the occasional heavier tin?

take any 7-8' rod that you like and start cutting the butt off 1" at a time to make it cumphie for you.....you won't kill a rod's action for the most part till you get to a foot up from the butt.

Custom lami glb 84 1m. You will love it. I have mine paired with an old Zebco Cardinal 4 and I use it evrywhere from the beach to the canal. Lots of fun and plenty of guts.

I use a Lami BT1083M with a foot cut off of the butt that I wrapped myself. I like an 8-foot rod because it is easier (for me at least) to get around the front end of my kayak. I also use this rod at the beach as I find it very versatile. The center of my reel seat is 15 inches from the butt.
