We have a huge disaster on our hands in the Gulf Coast area.......is the world rising up and getting help together to assist us in this tragic time of need? No! Yeah it pisses me off and makes me want to re-think any donations I may make in the future to natural disasters that happen elsewhere in the world! We are always the first to send help, money, supplies, medical assistance, rescue equipment, personnel to areas of the world, almost regardless of what part of the world it may be, to ease the pain and suffering, help rescue lives and rebuild thus enabling the human element in those areas to endure and prosper! Yeah, we are looked at as "EVIL" and "Undeserving" in the eyes of many countries whom we have helped in the past and continue to help now! The thought that we "Deserve" what happens to us always seems to come up and that pisses me off too! Our tax dollars are it seems always being sent to other countries for one thing or another while those in our country still are in need.......that pisses me off too! Sadly I must say that this is necessary because we are a country that cares.......plain and simple. Maybe some day the world will wake up and see that we are not a country of evil, monstrous humans bent on taking over the planet! It is in such times that we as a country pull together and exhibit compassion the likes of which another country or the rest of the world combined can never match.....it is what makes this country a great country. We may not be perfect here in the US of A but we certainly try to make this spinning rock a nice place to live for all! We are a country that is very fortunate in the resources that we have....a country of plenty it seems sometimes but we know that is not true or we would all be rich! We do however have the ability here to pick others up when they are down....and what kind of world would we be living in if not for that? We all know that when natural disaster strikes our own, that we are on our own and the reality of that stings quite a bit....but we are the greatest country in the world and we have the ability to take care of our own.....we are resilient like no other and must continue to be so to remain great. I think all that I have written above is because we are a country of many countries....made up of citizens of the world from all countries and that is why we help others without hesitation. Hard as it may seem sometimes when we are in need and others are not as quick to step to the plate......don't you still find yourself digging deep and giving when all reason tells you not to?

I like to keep the faith that we're a resilient and caring nation and as we watched the faces of those scared people, especially kids, being rescued there was no doubt we'd be making a donation to the Red Cross at our respective jobs today, but I just have to say it totally burns me up inside there are those among us who look at such a tragic disaster as an opportunity to loot and rob others. It doesn't much matter to me other countries won't or don't ever come to our aid but expect it from us when they're in need, that's the way it's always been, probably always will be, it doesn't make me happy, but I can live with that, because like Bigfish said, we're a resilient and caring nation.

Alot of good points BF. As for me, I give as much as I can, and will. I have learned a long time ago to give and not Expect to recieve. I give because I feel it helps, be it here or abroad. I am a believer in do onto others, and have witnessed good deeds go rewarded. Be it sooner or later it all comes back around, the good and the bad.

Just to keep it in perspective, and not that I excuse looting, but a lot of those people are grabing food and diapers, because they don't have any and can't buy any. Not the Tvs are an entirely different deal.

The looting is really sick.

Saw a report about a fairly poor family who lost almost everything in the flood...then they found out their only valuables like a cheap family computer etc... were stolen :realmad:
