Nebe 09-06-2005, 03:46 PM Coulda sworn I saw a pic #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^& posted yesterday. Where'd it go? he is the RI Phantom :D JohnR 09-06-2005, 04:58 PM It was pulled at someone's request (I didn't pull it) but it either: Was the start of another stupid flame war Or Causing a load on the PM system Or Both... With some of the flaming happening here these days, it takes the fun out of it and gets kind of old. So, if the flames happen (unless it is actually good discussion) sadly, the thread or portions will get pulled. I don't like it and I don't think the other people moderating here like it either. If people want to take shots or stir the pot just to stir the pot, then some have the potential to ruin this site for the rest. We've had our fair share of fights here, but usually in the winter, it is really starting to suck if they are happening now. And there is simply too much important stuff happening in the world and in out country to need to piss people off on an internet site for sport... NIB 09-06-2005, 05:01 PM It appears as just the plain site of #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^& causes many different systems to overload. thats a joke. Karl F 09-06-2005, 05:59 PM John, Well Said. BM, if you read this, should I post the picture I showed you today from 1968? :devil2: No worries John, it's just an old fish pic, although in 2005, it might spark a flame ... smiling happy faces in the picture, tho... Mike P 09-06-2005, 10:07 PM There are people who don't listen when asked to cool their heels and put aside whatever personal dislikes they may have for another member here. So, they decide to flame, and since all of the mods here have jobs and can't baby sit all day, sometimes threads have to be parked for a spell, out of view, until they can be pruned. And sometimes, someone decides to be the bigger man in a developing pissing contest and asks that the thing be moved to Thread Purgatory, for the "greater good". fishaholic18 09-06-2005, 10:28 PM The stuff on this site is getting out of control! Too much hate and jelousy going on. I like to post pix of fish because some guys ,as I do, like to see what others are catching, it encourages me to fish harder. Unfortunately, some idiots hate you for it out of jelousy or whatever.. I have no use for those people. I've met a bunch of good guys that I consider friends from this site and I enjoy BSing, and fishing with them at the Leg's and other events that John works hard to put together. John and the mods do a good job keeping the crap off the site, which there shouldn't be any of to begin with. I think he created this site in the first place for guys who like to fish for Stripers to have a place to communicate with others who have the same addiction. Do you think he feels like weeding thru posts to get all the crap out? I don't think that was his intention, nor should he have to deal with it. I think I'm thru posting pix, I never thought it would cause the problems it does. Can't we all just get along? Dave piemma 09-07-2005, 02:26 AM There are a couple of good points made in the posts in this thread. Although I am not part of this nonsense that has been taking place....and the offenders know who they are... I'd like to add my 2 cents. I know #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^& and fish with him on occasion. We have become friends and spent a few nights "hopping rocks". The fact of the matter is that the guy is hugely successful at what he does. Anytime someone is good at what they do they will become a target for a small group of jealous, self centered individuals that hate to see success. It's the "faster gun" syndrome. The malcontents want to be the "faster gun". They can't seem to stand anyone being better at what they are not. Before the internet this stuff was all word of mouth. It always happened around the end of Summer because they guys who are not hardcore are "s#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&g wind". August can be a real tough month to find quality Bass in the surf. The guys that continue to catch large, who put their time in and crawl the rocks night-in and night-out, continue to catch. The "wanna be's" bad mouth these guys because they haven't a clue as to what they are doing. Bill's only mistake is he is too open about his successes. My guess is that you will not see a lot of "The #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&" on this board for awhile. BigBo 09-07-2005, 03:45 AM My guess is that you will not see a lot of "The #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&" on this board for awhile. If that's true, I for one, will miss his posts and pictures. ThrowingTimber 09-07-2005, 07:50 AM The guys an excellent fisherman all bs aside. I love being competitive and love being around competitive people it kinda pushes me to do better try harder, I hope he doesnt stop posting over a few wet blankets. :kewl: NIB 09-07-2005, 07:52 AM I agree it will be too bad if he dosn't post he likes to stir the pot. Some say i do the same thing....nothin wrong with that some may not always agree but i respect his opinion. The site is a little slow now. Word of mouth I found carry's alot faster than one may think.U might as well have fun with it.or don't carry a decent fish out an show it off an weigh it in.I find that when fishin gets good boards get slow.U see BM post in a while... Krispy 09-07-2005, 07:57 AM Anytime someone is good at what they do they will become a target for a small group of jealous, self centered individuals that hate to see success. It's the "faster gun" syndrome. People always say others are jealous of #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^& or Frank D. or R. Johnson or whomever. But you dont hear that trash talking about people like S. McKenna, Iron Mike, T. Chirrapo or Cowhunter. Most are genuinely happy for their successes. Jealousy is an excuse to mask the truthful fact, you get what you give. And that trancends fishing :faga: Food for thought  NIB 09-07-2005, 08:09 AM Hey Krispy,U should listen to ur avatar. Krispy 09-07-2005, 08:21 AM yer right NIB, i should :bsod: NIB 09-07-2005, 08:24 AM Its a good one I like the head slam also. rizzo 09-07-2005, 09:37 AM All this post editting is getting a little rediculous. Someone sends a cheap shot at another guy and its left on just long enough so word gets out and they hear about it. Then the post is then edited or deleted to cover up for the person who did it. I know a lot of guys are getting tired of this, and many who used to openly contribute to the board have now stopped. We all know whats going on whether posts are edited or not. JPowers 09-07-2005, 09:43 AM Yikes! When I posted this inquiry re the missing #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^& post, I only wanted to know what the fish weighed ( wasn't mentioned). Didn't mean to open another wound. fishaholic18 09-07-2005, 09:50 AM Yikes! When I posted this inquiry re the missing #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^& post, I only wanted to know what the fish weighed ( wasn't mentioned). Didn't mean to open another wound. Don't take much to open a wound around here lately and it's not even winter yet. I don't get it. piemma 09-07-2005, 09:54 AM You know, neither do I. I'm joining Bill and just not gonna post anymore. Especially with the Fall run starting. No time for this crap. :wavey: Mike P 09-07-2005, 10:00 AM All this post editting is getting a little rediculous. You think this is easy, rizzo? Babysitting some of you guys (not intended at you personally)? I edit judiciously. You know, there are 6 of us who do this. As far as I know, all 6 of us have full time jobs. Sometimes a post does stay up far too long before it gets pulled. You know why that is? It's not because any of us are covering anyone's ass. It's because we're efiin' busy earning a living, and checking in when we have spare time. It used to be, we hardly ever had to edit because most folks here behaved themselves. It used to be this board could run with just John, Saltheart and Slip having the keys. Now we have 6 moderators and even with the 3 extra sets of hands, things get out of hand. I particularly resent your saying we either don't edit or pull threads to cover someone's ass. We pull them because the pissing and flaming detracts from the quality of the site, makes it less newbie-friendly, and drives more old timers away than anything else. If you're tired of the editing, and you know that others are, either accept it and get used to it, or lurk, or go elsewhere, or do whatever you like. Because it's going to continue until this site returns to being a place where guys feel comfortable asking a question without having to worry about some wise-ass torching them, or where guys who don't like each other in real life trade cyberjabs. Krispy 09-07-2005, 10:19 AM Mike, Rizzo is saying member A posts something and then member A goes back and edits his own post 15 minutes later, after enough people have read it to get back to member B or typing trash and then deleting their own post 15 minutes later so the moderators dont get wind of it NIB 09-07-2005, 10:19 AM I think that if u want to say something on the net say it as u where looking that person in the eye not sitting behind a computer monitor. If everyone followed this rule Mike an the others could go back to there live's an stop all the babysitting. It's a shame when a thread gets the boot because of a coupla bad remarks but I understand when it has to be done.... JohnR 09-07-2005, 10:25 AM Rizzo - glad you figured it all out that we have agendas here and are taking care of our pals... Now seriously, we're almost in a no-win situation here. Some people say we leave the crap up too long, some say we should never edit/delete anything. Some people like to take shots or stir the pot for grins and giggles, while other, GOOD contributors don't want to anymore because of all the mickey mouse going on. Like Mike said - we are doing this as we go - this is not something that pays anyone's mortgage or pocket change. Having started this site and doing most of the work, certainly behind the scenes, I don't make enough doing this to pay for my gas in my truck for a year. The other guys do this this for free because they care AND they are competent, good characters and are very fair and even handed at what they do. These guys don't go around as the all knowing self-appointed experts that many sites have, they just act here as they do everywhere else they are in life - class acts. As for editing posts - I might just turn off all editing after 2 minutes :eek5: but that cure might be worse than the disease. A lot of posts get moved to purgatory and some get cleaned and come back. (Damn - I just had to edit this one :tm: ) Now - how to get this site back on track? People - like you and everyone else - just remeber, this is a fishing community that is supposed to be a good site, where people get along, don't get trashed - it's not a sport. So for those stirring up the crap - PLEASE knock off the threats, name calling, barbs, vendettas, boistering, et al. Also, always remember that what one person types might not type out like they meant or come across unintentionally in a bad way, and when someone else reads it, they don't digest it like the original intent. Most people here (me included) are not wordsmiths. Besides, there is way too much important stuff going on in life (especially now) not to have a little slice you can enjoy NOT at someone else's expense. So please everyone, remember that this is your community and you get out what you tend to put in so if everyone would be a little more understanding and not take things too seriuosly, it will be a better more enjoyable place. Fall Run is here people - GO FISH!!!!!!! :kewl: Thanks, John (J.Powers - low 40#s - nice fish) outfished 09-07-2005, 10:29 AM No more #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&? Say it ain't so :crying: When all the old timers and old salts a have left, there will be nothing LEFT here but a bunch of newbies scratching their heads wondering what happened. I've noticed a change of "attitudes" on this board and nothing good comes from it. We're all here for one common reason, we love to fish!!! So much for comradery when competition steps in, it becomes every man for himself. I believe we are truly a dying breed and if we can't get along amongst ourselves, we and our sport is doomed. We can't "keep" it all to ourselves and need to share the info, share the catch and share the sport with the new guys or we will witness the demise of our hobby even further then it already has. Power in numbers! I've learned more from this board in 1 year then I have trying to figure it all out on my own in 10 years. I listen, ask questions and always try to add my 2 cents worth if I think I have something usefull to contribute. I hope all of us remember our first days striper fishing and being frustrated trying to figure this all out and how greatful we felt when someone in the "know" showed us how it's done. piemma 09-07-2005, 10:50 AM Outfished: I am one of the "old timers". Not all that old as I still work, fly on business about 200,000 miles a year and still fish 100 nights. I am not posting anymore responses to the trash talking that has been going on. I have posted several rhetorical defenses of a couple of guys who, for whatever reason, have a bunch of guys who dislike them. I will respond to questions if I have a good answer. I will give advise if asked, for whatever it's worth. But, I will no longer respond to a couple of board members who, in my opinion, should be banned for their outright hateful additude. You got a problem with someone. get some Balls, PM the guy and meet him face to face. Stop hiding behind your keyboard. outfished 09-07-2005, 10:58 AM I personnally don't have any beefs with any members here, if I did I'd make it known to them in a PM. I love to see all fish and fishing pictures regardless who or where its from. I have fun here on this board and try to stay out of the politics and religion and try to keep it on-topic. I'm quickly approaching the status of an "old timer" and I hope to remain healthy enough in my old age to keep me out on the surf and out of trouble. Sea Dangles 09-07-2005, 11:41 AM You know, neither do I. I'm joining Bill and just not gonna post anymore. Especially with the Fall run starting. No time for this crap. :wavey: Always funny when someone puts up a post that they are not gonna post anymore. Mike P 09-07-2005, 11:56 AM He's been here a year less than you, and has 903 posts to your 48. Why don't you start contributing something positive instead of making half of your posts in the Classifieds and the other half knocking other people? I hear tell you're pretty decent in your own right and fish with some real heavy hitters. You don't have to give away the store, just share some methods, or how-to stuff. You must hang here for a reason. Try giving something back instead of selling stuff and starting cyber wars. BigFish 09-07-2005, 04:30 PM We all have an issue with other folks on here from time to time.......Gawd knows I have with guys like T-Lap or Krispy.....and I only name them because I think we have gotten past our "issues" realized we are different people with different opinions and such......and I will even admit to being a bit of a bonehead from time to time.... :tm:....but in the end, we must learn to get past the "issues" and try to get along. I think T-Lap and Krispy will agree we have moved past that stage and we do try to help each other out on occasion. We don't have to like each other....but we can learn to exist here. I don't have time for enemies here...and I like the new friends I have made here and look forward to making more.....this is a great site! Its the perfect place for people suffering from this affliction known as "Fishin' Addiction". We meet others with the same interests, sometimes the same problems and sometimes, if you dare, you hook up with someone you never met and go fishing....and it doesn't always go well but I can tell you from experience most of the time it does......and you make some great fishing friends through here. Its unfair for a guy to get slandered in a public forum and he never even knows what happened. I think the point has been made and although some of these threads are way off topic its set standards for the site (same thing as spot burning). This is a great site and we should all work to keep it that way. chris L 09-08-2005, 06:39 PM on topic ? what the hell is that ?
