That sucks. I've only been ther a few times but they had some good stuff there. The fly-fisherman with glasses that worked there was real nice guy.

Did they give any indication the were closing?

Talked with a few of my distributors and seems a few shops skipped town owing a lot of money

i went there once , and never went back , when you walk into a store (any type of store) with money in hand looking for a certian plug and (with an empty store) they tell you look over there , with no follow up when you cannot find what you are looking for that tells me we don't need your business :hs:

Their prices were a bit high if you ask me. Eels went up to $2.10 apiece at one point. :nopain:

Old Salt is no more...in fact, both Old Salt Bait Tackle & Old Salt Outfitters (the marine store that is attached to the bait store ) were both emptied in the middle of the night over a week ago. There are many rumors flying around regarding this situation and since I have not heard the "truth" from any of the dirtect parties involved I will not comment on them here.

I will say thart I do not beleive thast this is a case of another tackle shop closing due to the economy, weather, etc. Either way it is a crying shame as Old Salt was the shop that carried some of the high end stuff for anglers in this area.

I agree it wasn't the friendliest or cheapest shop... but it was close by.... they are getting fewer around without having to go out of the way ..... will be interesting to see what the outcome is on this one

I hit there when I'm down that way..... sometimes I only have a little time and liked it when I could hit there and then go to one of the spots at hand, especially with the present gas prices... more of this... :sled: and less of this... :ss: :crying:

the latest word that I have come across is............ john had kept control of the slips and moorings... he is going to take control back of the store selling limited items at 15% over cost for cash and 20% over for credit...kind of like the internet without the internet :rollem: ... still doing the rigging and such... will be open next year.... the bait shop has already been rented to a new person that will probably open next spring (had not heard exactly when)
