I posted a message in the classifieds, but just wanted to know if anybody knows of a tandem galvanized roller trailer to fit a 1988 Formula 242 (with brakes).

You don't see a lot of trailers, I guess they stay with the boats.So Rick why a galv roller ? I'm just wondering because I just bought an alum bunk and really like it, plus it's a lot lighter. Loading my 23 on the bunk trailer is easier than my old 17 on the rollers.There is a 24' , 6000# float on tandem in the bargain news and the guy is asking $2200.00, which is about what I paid for my new Towmaster - if you want to go that route let me know, I did a lot of checking around and went with Towmaster and I'm happy with it.
John - whats up ? Why are you looking for a trailer - did you get the Seacraft ? You holding out on us ?

I'm holdin' out :) - still too early on any decisions but I'm checking it out tomorrow...

One note about the bunl -v- roller trailers. In CT it may not be as much of an issues as you have small tides but up in Mass, there are 8+ tides to contend with which may be aproblem with a bunk trailer. I don't know of anyone using a bunk on a heavier boat in the higher tide ranges... Just a thought, again I don't know if it would be OK or not...

Hey John, good luck on the boat - if it's solid, get it - they clean up nice ! Good point on the tides too, you have to dunk those bunk trailers more than a roller so it's really the ramp length at low tide - you don't want those wheels going over the edge.

You gotta have enough water to float that boat off the trailer. Drop a roller in skinny water easier. Barn Island in Stonington is like that at dead low. Worse on a moon tide. Boats all lined up waiting for the tide to change. Same with pulling it out. Plus I can take it off the boat stands in the back yard in 10 minutes with rollers

Might be a couple more worth checking out if your heading down to check out the Seacraft. Bargain news has a 22' Mako in Norwalk for $6500.00, another 22' Mako in Pawcatuck for $7500,and a 23 Steigercraft (I love those) in Elmsford for $7000.

Rick you can usually do well on trailers at the boat show. A guy I work with got one the year before last, he had been pricing them for awhile, and he seemed to think he got a good deal.
