I think there's a good one right on the way to Plum Island, I forget the name. Good stuff and good info also.

Surfland Bait & Tackle on Plum Island has a tremendous reputation. I'm sure there are other good places to consider but Surfland has a great rep...

I'd have to agree on Surfland. Of all the tackle shops that I've been to, that one is certainly among the best. A tremendous selection........I usually try to make it up there at least once or twice a year even though I'd don't fish Plum Island that much. They have some stuff there that I can't find anywhere else.

Welcome to the board! I'm anuther North shore member. There's Pete's on North St in Salem, and Al's on the Beverly side of the Salem bridge. Those are the local shops I have utilized the most.
We'll have to catch up come springtime!

Plum Island is a bit far from Salem/Beverly/Marblehead about 35 to 40 miles, and yes Surfland run by Kay Molton and Daughter is a great shop. In my youth prior to leaving Gloucester and Salem, I used to shop at Pete's Bait and Tackle on Bridge Street(still in the same place). Pete Koutakaris(may not have spelled it right) is a square shooter. He has, off and on written articles for the Fisherman. Good man and he really knows his stuff about fishing the entire North Shore.
