View Full Version : Tough night
piemma 10-22-2005, 11:07 PM How many other nitwits, besides, Bryan, Spence, Nebe and myself were out?
I spoke with JoeP and told him to wait till dawn. It was coming down so hard I could hardly see. Wind, rain, thunder, lightning, high surf and it's midnight. Gotta love this sport or be nuts or both. I've had it. Going to bed. :sleeps:
libassboy 10-22-2005, 11:20 PM Ya it was pretty harsh tonite!!
The lighting made it all the more interesting. :tm:
spence 10-23-2005, 12:04 AM The Aquaskinz gotta earn their keep every now and then. I think my right ear is still completely filled with seawater, but dammit I got my needle back! :tm:

Striperhound 10-23-2005, 05:43 AM What a difference a day makes. Friday night-glass calm, light winds and tough fishing-Saturday night East winds, driving rain but finally found some fish. Gotta love it
I spent a couple of hrs in that slop. Should have stayed home where it was warm and dry.
kippy 10-23-2005, 07:34 AM I went out and couldn't see a damn thing, except the lightning, and booked it home, it was miserable out there! No fish for me.
basswipe 10-23-2005, 07:55 AM That's why I fished the noon hightide yesterday.Rented a movie instead lastnight.
lurch 10-23-2005, 09:09 AM I would have been out there but b-day parties and soccer were harshing my mellow!!
NEXT weekend I will be out there...RIAN OR SHINE!!!
RIJIMMY 10-23-2005, 09:27 AM I was out, it sucked. Im bruised, cold and tired.
And....skunked except for one schoolie
tattoobob 10-23-2005, 09:41 AM I was out all day and left at 6 pm due to high winds and driving rain
plus the junk coming out of the river and washing up on shore was
gross plus the tea brown water. I was tired of catching trout size stripers
10 to 14 inches. totally different from Friday night when the fish were 5 times the size and flat calm tide
irishcurse 10-23-2005, 10:20 AM I was out, got nuthin' but wet. Did manage to scare the bejesus out of a couple on the boardwalk. Must have thought I was swamp thing. She screamed so loud that he almost jumped in the marsh.......good times
Yep - as much as I love to fish in nasty weather, I whimped out.
After I talked to Paul about the conditions, I read the Forecast again, saw the bands of T-Storms on the radar for the next several hours, and cashed it in.
Springtides 10-23-2005, 12:31 PM yeah I did it.
dickmont 10-23-2005, 12:40 PM i was out. what a difference a day makes. 1 nice blue (if you could ever call a blue nice) in the late afternoon before it got really nasty and then nada into the night. it felt good to be out in it too bad i couldn't feel my plugs. :uhoh: :jester:
jimmyCT 10-23-2005, 12:40 PM last night of the MDA so I went out.
Water was pretty muddy though.
Saw 6 people total over about 5 hours on the water.
This in various well known spots.
not a hit all night.

Tattoo 10-23-2005, 03:00 PM Thought I was going to have to ditch the gear and climb the fence in front of the light house in order to get out of there. Mother nature was not happy last night.
RIROCKHOUND 10-23-2005, 03:51 PM Crappy weather; fished 4 hours and then bailed and slept with the intention of waking up for pre dawn... slept till 730; oops!
Mike, did one of you guys weigh in a 12 and forget to put a name down? trying to get a list of who weighed what and who fished for the club....

Arden Gardell and Rob Taylor kicked it's ass last night and fished from 3PM straight thru till this morning. Rob had to be in the shop at 10AM so they missed the breakfast. Not sure who caught what, but they definitely went the extra mile resulting in our respectable finish. Needless to say your 25# fish helped the cause. I think it was yours anyways. :kewl:
I accomplished nothing other then getting rocked by a giant wave at PJ Lighthouse around 10PM and catching some schoolies at a location North of there.
rwilhelm 10-23-2005, 07:13 PM I was planning on fishing very early this am but the heavy rain and wind changed my mind. Fished late afternoon today - got skunked.
basswipe 10-24-2005, 05:00 AM One short lastnight.
Tattoo 10-24-2005, 05:04 AM Spence,
Watch Hill Light, not Point Jude. I knew I was in trouble when I finally rounded the corner and saw the water hitting the wall. Looked down and couldnt see my korkers, um, this is bad.....
spence 10-24-2005, 07:10 AM Figured it was one or the other :usd:

I still haven't seen the final numbers, but it sounds as if we had caught a few 8# blues it would have possibly been a 1st place finish...
RIROCKHOUND 10-24-2005, 07:36 AM Yup;
approx total was:
81ish for RISAA
mid 70's for RIMS
66 for PV

Newport had 3 bass and 1 blue, so we got 2 zero's essentially
Nice fish brian.
Anyone can go out an get em when things are right.I fish every weekend in our club tourney's.its the guys who can srape em out when things aren't so nice that are the real fisherman.
Johnny C 10-24-2005, 08:45 AM Nice meeting you guys Saturday. I sucked pretty bad. I got 3 shorts before we met up....thought I could have been on to something. Then it just got UGLY.
I punded lots of sand from EB to WH....Not a nibble.
My inlaws house is closed....and that is the season for me. Unless my wife allows a day trip.....
STREETFIGHT 10-24-2005, 10:01 AM i fished till 700 pm saturday and knocked off till 0330....... when i went back out i spent about a half hour getting into a spot that had lots of bait.... crawled out onto a rock and then after about a dozen casts the nob on the handle a new VS200 siezed up...... boy was i pissed!! anyone else ever have that happen ??
FishinRay 10-24-2005, 11:19 AM Found some large BLOOOS :vamp: in the southern bay area on my kayak Saturday afternoon. Had one cow run my line thru the rocks and "bink" went the line... :crying: If you dressed for the weather, considering sitting on a yak, it wasn't too bad until dark fell.
MoroneSaxatilis 10-24-2005, 02:00 PM Nice fish brian.
