The boat I bought was winterized by the previous owner, and he never put it in the water this year. It starts up fine, and runs fine. While it is running, with the Mickey ears on of course, there is some smoke. I was told by a marine mechanic that this is the fogging oil burning off. I was wonderng should I just top off the tank, and add some more stabilizer, or what should I do??

How much time have you run the engine since you took ownership? What kind of engine? How much fuel in the tank?

top off tank..stabil

pull plug's..squirt some marvel mystery oil in the pistons,,replace the plug's back in,,turn over without starting.

grease all fitting's

check lower unit oil for any milky stuff[water] change if looking black[dark]. if there's white stuff in there , you have a water leak and can freeze up over the winter and blow out the lower gasket's in the unit.or worse, split the side's open.

best to check out the thermostat too..old salt can crap that up big time.

never trust what someone else has said they did before you got the motor.
spring time can be to late .

go right through it agin, run it and winterize it all over again, that way you know it's done right
