I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on where would be the best place for me to purchase breakaway/allstar blanks. I have checked CapeCodTackle but they only have a limited selection. I am specifically looking for the 10 foot 6 inch blank that is two pieces and is rated for 2-5 ounces. Thanks in adavnce, Derek

Check Hatteras Outfitters (URL www.hatterasoutfitters.com) Saltheart and John M give Tres and his rodbuilder, Wayne, glowing marks. That's good enough for me. They're a bit more expensive than Mike T, but if he doesn't have the blank, they're probably your next best shot.
Or, if you want, e-mail John R and maybe he can give you the phone number for Hatters Jack--I don't think they have a web site. They had a booth at the Mass Bass show in March. They build a beautiful rods and the show prices, at least, were fantastic. They have all of the blanks, or can get them for you.

The blank is a GSW1266/2 . I believe Mike T has them at his store even though not listed on the web page store. His number is 508-291-0820. Tres has them on his web site www.hatterasoutfitters.com. Go to the store and look for the 1266/2. Its a great blank. It just a little heavier than the Loomis 1266c.

Thanks for the help guys. I am familiar with Hatteras Jacks. I'm thinking about ordering the blanks from him. I just started custom rod building, what a blast. Thanks to all for the help on that subject in the previous posts. And John R, that book you recommended is awesome. It shows great detail. I keep reading it again and again and keep on picking up more and more knowledge. Thanks again and tight lines, Derek.

You cant really go wrong with any of the names mentioned. I really like the all-star blanks they are pretty sweet <img src="/Images/Happy_Face.gif"><!--e1-->
