I recently purchased the aquaskinz gloves and have already had a problem with water seeping through on the fingers. Has anyone else had a problem with the gloves yet? Does anyone know what aquaskinz return policy is?

i had a pair that i used for a couple hours on a windy 40 degree day. my hands froze. almost as bad as no gloves at all. i got a pair of glacier's from pete at the edge. the first finger and thumb flip open for rigging, casting etc. i've used them at temps below freezing and have had no problems keeping my hands warm. i fish a conventional so my thumbs are almost always exposed the rest of my hand stays warm enough that it hasn't been a problem.

they're not waterproof, they will warm up with body heat when wet. for cold and wet conditions i like a pair of thin latex gloves underneath. the perfect glove may be an impossible comprimise. i like the fact that i can do almost anything with these on and they're braid resistant.

I bought a previous year model of the NRS Reactor gloves.I love 'em.

But...these also are not waterproof.Most neo gloves aren't anyway.Like afterhours said they work like a wetsuit.Using a waterproof liner underneath works,I find liners uncomfortable though.

Truly waterproof gloves are expensive.The chances of poking holes with hooks or fish spines are pretty likely.Do it while fishing and they aren't waterproof anymore.

I hace been happy with mine and no, they are not waterproof.

they are on the same idea as a wet suit

great gloves for rock hopping but if you fish alot (3-5) hrs a day with braid they will last a month or two tops the index wears out

A lot of you guys know that I am involved with the company. This being said I want to make a few comments regarding the Aquaskinz Black Thunder Gloves.

They are not supposed to be waterproof. They are designed to trap a layer of water between your skin and the glove, Then your body heat warms the water, just like a wetsuit. When you come out of the water, just like a wet suit, air and wind temp will effect how cold your hands get. A trick with the skinz gloves is that if you make a tight fist you will squeeze the layer of water out and your hands will not get as cold.

The gloves are designed to be worn for most of the fishing season. they are an all purpose sports glove, designed to be used Spring Summer and Fall. I personally never had my hands get too cold this past Spring. I also wore them all Summer. In the last week or two, there have been nights where my hands got too cold wearing the gloves. The temperatures on these nights was 35 degrees and below. If anyone thinks that they are going to get any glove that will be comfortable, allow you to submerge your hand, safely grab rocks etc, tie knots, and cast and then come out of the water in literally freezing temperatures without getting cold hands they are not being realistic. Will these gloves let you fish in cold weather? Absolutely. Will they let you fish in freexing weather without getting cold hands?
Probably not. There are limits to anything.

As far as the comparisons to Glaciers, which I also own and use in certain circumstances, including shoveling snow with my Aquaskinz Hurricane Dry Top. Here are a few points. Wear the Glaciers whlie wading out to the rocks, getting them submerged on the way. Reach down into the water to land and hopefully release a fish. After doing so with my Glaciers on, my hands are then wet and the water can not evaporate and dry as Galiciers are not breathable, not to mention the glove slips when I have a tight grip on something. You can tie knots wearing the Aqaskinz gloves, easily. With my Glaciers I can not. You can cast both spinning and conventional reels while wearing Aquaskinz gloves. With my Glaciers, I have difficulty. You can grab rocks, covered with barnacles or not and get a grip tight enough to maneuver without the fear of the exterior grip slipping off the held surface AND without the fear of your hand slipping inside the glove. IF you have done any climbing with Galciers on, you know what I mean.

John2465, I have been fishing these gloves at least 4 trips a week for the last month and more than that for most of the Summer. My finger tip shows very little wear and no signs of failure. I have heard someone else make the same accusation but to date I have not seen a pair that is worn in the manner that you describe. Please make sure to call 1-800-dry-tops and talk to Kadir. In the interest of full disclosure. Early on, a very few gloves had a stitching issue with the wrist strap and that issue was immediately adressed and a design improvement added. This is how Aquaskinz adressed problems, this is what our customers expect.

This late season of cold nites I selected the glacier gloves instead of the thunders for the primary reason of warmth. The neoprene cuffs of this gloves are long enough to cinch down the wrist of your jacket top thus creating a better seal. If water were to get in the glove it would warm up like a diving suit.
The thunders will get wet as soon as you place your hands on a rock that may have a small pool of water on top of it. Your hands will get cold until who knows when they warm up again. Once you get your hands continously wet/cold/warm, wet/cold they will eventually stay wet/cold.
That being said, I may get the thunders for the late spring/summer.
