I have noticed that some of the plugs I see have an obvious coat of epoxy on them. Others have a very thin coat. I'm assuming the thin coat is sprayed on from what I have been reading on the board. What do you guys prefure for finnish? I have been using envirotex light. I like it but it is difficult to get it to finnish evenly and it takes so long to cure. Will the spray be any better? I don't know anyone that has sprayed on epoxy.
The envirotex works well with a spinner for me.

Thin coats for me come from system three clear coat epoxy, it is pretty thin so I put on 2 coats but I just flip those end for end, no spinner.

I'm just a beginner at this but so far I've found Envirotex Lite goes on really well and comes out great. You have to spin it though. I use the drying motor on my rod wrapper to do it.

Yep , but it takes forever to dry , like 8 hours or more .

Rod Building epoxy takes at least 6 hours so it's about the same

The trouble with e-texing plugs is that while a person normaly makes one rod at a time and only need one spinner , making plugs required more spinners unless you only spin 1 plug a day . I now have 7 . :)

I'll have to build me one of those Ferris wheel style dryers Like Jig man has.
Chumbucket also had a pretty cool drying system that looked like a Train.

I've been using the Devcon2 30 minute epoxy. It goes on easy and I haven't had to use a spinner to get a smooth finish. I also have never had the problem of it not setting up fully like some of the E-Tex guys have mentioned.

The big drawback is that since its a 30 minute epoxy you can only do 1-2 plugs at a time......which is going to be a pain-in-the-A$$ for the Super Swap :D. This usually isn't a big deal since I only do a few plugs at a time normally.

i'm thinking two part epoxy primer/sealer.I forgot about devcon epoxy topcoat etc..

That looks similar to the method I saw Chumbucket uses. Could you show a picture of how you connect the plugs to the dryer

8 hrs to dry is nuthin'
my stuff takes 16 hrs. @70 degrees.
every ten degree drop the time doubles 32 hrs @60 degrees, 64 hrs @ 50 etc...

you want something quick to spray on top soze you can wire it hold it touch it etc..... put rattle can clear on it. then wire it, then epoxy,or system 3,or e-tex and let it spin away overnight.

Pressed for space Dan,:huh:this might work for ya. Will spin upto 8 plugs at a time.
Storage basket, barbecue motor and spit,100watt flood to warm, about $38 bucks to put together.

I string them on wire, one long piece of wire.

I like justplugit's, it's compact and with springs, you can place them in there 2 at a time and still touch them up with a brush just by giving a little twist. Nice

here's a pix of the rack i built out of scraps I had lying around. used a motor from a microwave turntable. i can do 8 at a time, possibly more if I doubled them up.
