But things change and I reserve the right to change my opinion in the future. The Dad Fisherman 11-23-2005, 11:33 AM :btu: fishaholic18 11-23-2005, 11:58 AM :tm: pbrown 11-23-2005, 12:01 PM I have a 12.6'. I like it but would much rather fish from the shore. I ended up loaning it to steelhead for the summer for a few of his plugs in trade. Otherwise I use it as a taxi only. WoodyCT 11-23-2005, 12:03 PM The wife and kids hooked me up with a Wilderness Systems Tarpon 160i for dad's day. Easily the best gift I've ever received. What a ball! Had a scrappy 34" bass take me on a nice sleigh ride the second week I owned the boat. Blues are kinda scary when they try to jump in your lap. Just a thin layer of nylon between their fangs and your sluggo. Get a yak- you'll love it. SAXATILUS 11-23-2005, 12:22 PM Tarpon 140, fully rigged. Love it. Don't use it all the time but it sure is nice to have options. Just another weapon in the arsenal. Great for getting to places that do not have easy land access, park it and surfcast like normal. Great this time of year when the fish are blitzing a couple hundred yards out. SAXATILUS 11-23-2005, 12:25 PM It would be cool to see a kayak forum here. Maybe get a couple of get togethers going?? basswipe 11-23-2005, 12:52 PM Great for getting to places that do not have easy land access, park it and surfcast like normal. That would be the reason why I would want one.ACCESS. Lower 11-23-2005, 01:22 PM WS 120 WS 140 WS Pungo Love em, use them a ton. Not only have my fish doubled in size, so has my access. I use them for both fresh and salt. Rappin Mikey 11-23-2005, 02:33 PM I got one last December. Best investment in years. Caught me a bunch of fish this year with that thing. ThrowingTimber 11-23-2005, 02:40 PM get a club and a lip gripper an 11lb bluefish thrashing around your crotch area with 3 sets of trebles hangin outta him is no picnic  :hihi:  tattoobob 11-23-2005, 03:14 PM When we were on Block Island Last June I rented one and fished in the salt pond. I had a blast getting towed around and fishing. It is worth checking out before you say you would never try it. Pete_G 11-23-2005, 03:31 PM Possibly the funniest thing I have ever seen take place in a kayak was a bonito getting loose in a sit on top, thrashing around for a few seconds, and then biting the guy in the yak in the toe. The offending tasty fish was then thrown from the yak. He must have seen the other bonito scattered about the boat being kept for supper and decided to put up a serious fight. So yeah, lip grippers, bogas, clubs, Baker Hookouts, etc, are all important tools when fishing from a kayak. boot man 11-23-2005, 03:38 PM at 6'3", 250 lbs, how much will it cost me to get one? Don't need specifics, just ballpark. irishcurse 11-23-2005, 04:15 PM New between 500-1000, used ????? who knows. A Marquesa would probably be the best deal new, as far as something that would fit you. Tom Don M 11-23-2005, 05:39 PM I've been a hardcore Surffisherman most of my life. However, when we took on Wilderness Systems Kayaks and saw the number of guys and gals fishing from kayaks I gave it a try. Endended up being a lot of fun. Found that you could fing fish that were inexsessile to both boaters and surfcasters. Just another way to diversify your fishing methods. Still love my Surffishing but it's a gas to be pulled around by a big fish. Boot Man, Tarpon 140, 160i or Cobra Fish and Dive would be the best bets for a guy your size. These boats new and fully fish rigged go from around $700 to $1200 depending on configuration (with or without rudder). It is strongly recommended test driving a kayak before purchasing. At King Cove we will let you try any yak you're interested in. ridler72 11-24-2005, 02:28 AM at 6'3", 250 lbs, how much will it cost me to get one? Don't need specifics, just ballpark. A package would cost around 1500. Including proper clothing, kayak, pfd, paddle, FF, battery system etc. There are big man kayaks out there you just have to find the right kayak. quick decision 11-24-2005, 07:26 AM Is fishing from a kayak like riding a moped? Fun until someone sees you. Rappin Mikey 11-24-2005, 08:17 PM Still fun even after you've been seen. quick decision 11-25-2005, 11:09 AM WITH THE PRICE OF GAS LAST SUMMER I THINK I WILL KEEP MY EYE OUT FOR ONE. Swimmer 11-27-2005, 12:22 PM I would have thought thier would be more actual kayakers here that. Good start though as far as getting some research done about a possible future purchase. Surfpirate 11-27-2005, 12:55 PM it can be productive, never say never! vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
