so far I've tried the single plug flip,I built an epoxy ferris wheel and the motorized inline heated epoxy box .. To make a long story short flipping produced the best results. When I spun the plugs inline the weighted plugs spun unevenly and the epoxy sagged.. The ferris wheel was a mother to put the epoxy on the plugs, always had voids.. The single flip was best but my fat dead fingers would drop the wet plugs on the dirty floor. With all the epoxy talk I thought I'd share the latest group flip proto with the barrel swivels I can spin the plugs and apply the epoxy much better.. Wearing a glove on one hand while moving the plugs has stopped my epoxy crawl..Working on the kitchen table and pre heating to room temperature plugs and epoxy has really cleaned up my finish . I boost the heat to 74 degrees to epoxy ... free plugs,,, right ... This is a work in progress .. I acually unclip the rack and flip it and clip it back in the wooden frame... If the rack was attached to wood frame and I could just spin it would be my next modification .. I have a nice wife that doesn't even blink when I do all this stuff .. One other mod would be to put washers or wrap tin foil around barrel swivels ..Had epoxy run in 2 of them and had to swap them out .. after a number of plugs though ..

tagger how about jamming a straw arround the swivel.
the large dunkin' dognuts straws are a tight fit between my swivel and the belly gromet so no clear gets down in the belly hole to ruin the swivel.

I'm still new at this so sorry foir the stupid ?. Dosen't the staw get sealed in the hole by the eoxy. Does a razor blade do a good enough job of cutting it out.

Apply epoxy to plug, then attach to "ferris wheel". At least thats how I've done it.

I hang all the plugs on the wheel first.
I include at least one spring in each row to allow some spinning of the plugs as I epoxy.
My wheel has 16 stations that are 24" wide. I can usually stagger at least two plugs per row, even though I never do that many plugs at one time. I can easily do 20 plugs without worrying about sagging.
My method is to unhook the spring from the end and while holding the plugs out from the wheel under a bright set of lights I epoxy the two plugs. After all plugs are done I turn the wheel on and do a final check for holidays.
After a short time I use a propane torch and move it side to side under the plugs to eliminate any bubbles that may form.
I usually spin them for at least a couple of hours and sometimes overnight if I feel that the epoxy was too stiff.
Keep the working epoxy floating in a warm cup to allow easier speading.
The attached picture is of the rack when I had only 1/2 the stations.
As a bit of info, I now wire before epoxying.

there's a fine art to removing the straw somewhear in the middle.
if you forget you can always trim it up with a hobby knife.

don't know why you have smily issues but maybe you need to check you preferences/settings under you user CP and make sure you don't have it set for the smilies turned off.

Like Slip said, also could be your firewall. Right click your fire wall icon,turn it off while you post the pics, then back on again.

Thank you for the idea. I am hard at work building one after you told me about it a few weeks ago. I really like the idea. What would be your maximum amount of plugs at once do you think? Making mine with a frame so you can just spin it and then lock in place. I will probably make 2. What do you think stainless?:rolleyes: Just kidding. Great idea. Paul

If you are going to spin it on a frame what about 2 of those set up's you have one on top of the other with something in the middle to catch any drips so not to land on row below. Would be pretty tall but get twice as many done. I think I am going to change my course and go that route. P.

Paul ... I do better with smaller batches of epoxy.. My mix is better and I don't have all that pressure of coating and watching a bunch of drippy plugs..My batch of epoxy covers six plugs with very little waste .. See what works for you.. but starting off with giant batches sounds scary to me ..Grrrrrr loaded new browser still no pics.. Its probably simple but i can't fix it .

Why are you watching or spinning? Just hang them front up from a coathanger and walk away. In 30 minutes hit it with a Bernz O Matic to pop the bubbles and sprinkle your glitter. Done. If ya want a real deep shine give it another coat the next day. No flippin' nuttin'.

We comparing apples and oranges .. I'm using systems 3 mirror coat ,, You guys using envirotex.??. I got pretty finish using envirotex ,but I left it all on the rocks to easily..

Forgot that you use System3. I've never even seen that stuff, so I dunno. Very few lumps in my water, so I use E-tex.

no smilies here either Tagger so don't feel bad, they show up in the window on the right but you can't click on them anymore to put them in the message...If you click the "more" link it doesn't work either.
