View Full Version : TFCTFN ?? Where to go ?
JohnR 11-30-2005, 12:08 PM Time to plan for the annual TFCTFN 2006 (Too Friekin Cold To Fish Night). For those that don't know, we as S-B'ers rent a hall (next to a hotel) and meet up and BS, have a dinner and BS, and a raffle and a pretty good time - we even sometimes bring significant others  :wall: . It is also a good way to break up the winter.
My thinking is to find to a place central to Boston, CT, RI, and the Cape most centrally localized by our population on the site. So New Bedford, Fall River, Taunton seems to be central to all and I also want to find a hall next to a hotel for obvious reasons (so as to deter drunk driving :buds:) and to accomodate out people that come from all over...
I am looking for suggestions and leads to find something, preferably in that area, that is situated walking distance close to a hotel/motel that we can group rate on.
Thanks!
John
The Lafayette Club in Taunton.
It is right off of rte 495 (exit 9) and is up the street from the Myles Standish Industrial Park which has a Holiday Inn...

Redsoxticket 11-30-2005, 02:50 PM John:
I will give you the telephone book of both New Bedford and Fall River if I see you at the meeting if that makes any difference.
What comes to mind is the Days Inn (formerly Holiday Inn) in New Bedford 508-997-1231, it has it all including live entertainment, bar, sleeping quarters, swimming pool, function rooms.Trust me this is the best that comes to mind for New Bedford area.

I called Steve at the VFW and I indicated to him what we do and he said it would be fine. He was presently putting a fresh coat of paint on walls.
It is very very similiar to the American Legion in Fairhaven in fact it is about 1/8 mile away if that and close enough to the Express Inn in Fairhaven.
The VFW in Fairhaven is out this year?
I heard today it's gonna be open. Seems someone who worked there had sticky fingers

redcrbrr, did you mean the "American Legion" because that is where we had this event.

How about the Red Roof Inn,the Holiday Inn or the Marriot Court yard which is next door to Picadillys Pub.All are in Mansfield,MA.located on RT 140.95 & 495 are just seconds away:think:
Mansfield also offers the Elks Club I know some Elks so that'll help on the rent$$ plus there's a VFW both are 1-2 miles away from the Ho-Tells

I think it is fundamental that we have kitchen access and most important based on previous years' results, a hotel in stumbling distance and within the reduced visual field of view created when someone helps themself to a night at the baaaahhhhrrrrr.... In my semi-professional opinion 1500 feet would be too far from the hall to the hotel :buds: . So, if the Holiday Inn will let us BACK :hihi: (excercise room) after the past three years, maybe we will do it there again :rotfl:
Squid kids Dad 12-01-2005, 07:25 PM I have to make this one.....:grins:
