:grins: ...POTENTIAL FOR WINTRY WEATHER EARLY NEXT WEEK...

THE FIRST FULL WEEK OF DECEMBER COULD FEATURE TWO SNOWFALLS IN SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND...ONE ON SUNDAY AND A POTENTIALLY MORE SIGNIFICANT STORM MONDAY NIGHT INTO TUESDAY.

THE FIRST SYSTEM SUNDAY IS EXPECTED TO BE FAST MOVING...BUT COULD BRING A LIGHT SNOWFALL OF 1 TO 3 INCHES AS IT PASSES SOUTH OF NEW ENGLAND...WITH THE HIGHER AMOUNTS ALONG AND SOUTH OF THE MASS TURNPIKE. SNOW IS FORECAST TO BEGIN TOWARD DAYBREAK SUNDAY IN THE CONNECTICUT VALLEY AND BY MID MORNING ALONG THE EASTERN MASSACHUSETTS COAST...THEN SHOULD TAPER OFF SUNDAY AFTERNOON FROM WEST TO EAST.

A SECOND AND POTENTIALLY MORE SIGNIFICANT WINTER STORM COULD IMPACT SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND MONDAY NIGHT AND TUESDAY WITH SNOW AND STRONG WINDS...AS IT TRACKS SOUTHEAST OF NEW ENGLAND. THERE IS STILL A LOT OF UNCERTAINTY AS TO HOW CLOSE THIS STORM WILL PASS...INCLUDING THE POSSIBILITY THAT IT WILL TRACK FAR ENOUGH AWAY FROM NEW ENGLAND TO NOT HAVE A SIGNIFICANT IMPACT ON THE REGION.

RIGHT NOW...THE MOST LIKELY SCENARIO CALLS FOR THE STORM TO TRACK ABOUT 125 MILES SOUTHEAST OF NANTUCKET TUESDAY MORNING. THIS WOULD BRING ACCUMULATING SNOW TO ALL OF SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND...WITH THE POTENTIALLY HIGHEST AMOUNTS NEAR THE INTERSTATE 95 CORRIDOR.

PEOPLE IN SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND SHOULD PAY ATTENTION TO THE LATEST FORECASTS OVER THE WEEKEND.

A significant winter storm is possible across Southern New England late Monday night and Tuesday

Confidence is growing in a significant winter storm bringing heavy snow to much of Southern New England late Monday night and Tuesday.

Latest forecasts suggest an intensifying coastal storm will track about 100 miles south of Nantucket Tuesday afternoon. This scenario would bring accumulating snow to Southern New England late Monday night and Tuesday with the heaviest accumulations along the Interstate 95 corridor. While the majority of Southern New England would receive all snow, a mix or changeover to rain is possible Tuesday morning over the outer Cape and islands as winds off the ocean bring in milder air.

It is still too early to forecast actual snow amounts, but the potential exists for 6 or more inches of snow from this storm, especially near the Interstate 95 corridor.

Since this storm is still over 2 days away there is still some uncertainty. Any deviation in forecast track will change the impact this storm has on Southern New England.

People in Southern New England should pay attention to the latest forecasts and statements. If later forecasts continue to show the potential for this storm, winter storm watches will be issued. stay tuned to NOAA all hazards weather radio or your favorite media outlet for the latest information.
