Jimbo 12-07-2005, 04:20 PM YBYA! What has it come to in this country when we have to give an alias name to an object associated with a popular and specific holiday, just so other people who don't celebrate that holiday aren't offended or think that if I can celebrate my holiday so openly and traditionally, why they shouldn't they be able to celebrate their (and every other) equivalent holiday. "Oh Cristmas tree, Oh Cristmas tree, -----" The christians and maybe the episcobals are the two that call it the christmas tree. There is power in numbers of these two groups and it would be a economic and political disadvantage to retailers and politicians if this were to continue. Matter of fact major retailers are going back to calling it a christmas tree because efforts are currently underway by boycotting (sp) these retailers. The other day my family & I went to cut down a big green tree at this place that had a sign that said: "Christmas Trees". Then we hung these bright funny colored things on it called: "Christmas Ornaments" and "Christmas Tree Lights". (Actually, I went fishing for a couple hours while they hung the Christmas Ornaments on it Sunday night. :hee: ) Then we made a space under the tree for these crazy things called: "Christmas Presents". Oh, and by the way, since my soon to be 6-year old son was born on December 25, his birthday is on: "Christmas Day".
