Mrs. Santa 's gonna be nice and get me an air brush for xmas..

I've been doing some searches and it seems like the iwata eclipse BCS is what a lot of you are using. What I need to know is what else I need besides the compressor & the paint.

I was planning to order the brush and paints from dixieart as they have free shipping over 45$.

I know I've read about needing a moisture trap for the hose, is there anything else I need ?

Does the brush attach directly to the bottles the paint comes in?
Do I need to get a bunch of the little bottles to mix colors?

you don't need a moisture trap.... it's winter. only moisture in the air is snow.

forget the bottles,, get the one with the cup on the side. ... way eisier to clean...

The bottles do attatch to the brush and yes to the little bottles .

IMHO, for plug making, a bottom feed airbrush is the way to go. I use the Iwata BCS eclipse ( I have 2 bottom feeds and 1top feed)
With the bottom feed brushes and the fast blast caps attached to my paint bottles, I can go from color to color in 10-15 seconds. I just use a squirt bottle with water to flush the brush in between color changes.
I do like the top or side feed airbrush for doing detail work.

I agree with Bernzy, bottom feed Iwata. Fast blast caps are definitely a plus. Less wasted paint and quicker. Get a moisture trap as the compressor will build up some moisture.

The caps fit the paint bottle and have the feed stem that goes in the paint! Good or not?

Pick up a good instructional book.....you will find much helpful information in there....AC Moore has a fine selection of instructional books!:read: :kewl:

You're there. I've got 50 or better on all of my paint bottles. Stock and custom mixed colors.

Also, ditto what JigMan says about the moisture trap. The compressed air may be a different temp than the ambient temp in your shop which may create moisture in your compressor tanks. For 12-14 bux ( Campbell Hausfield @ Home Depot ), it's cheap insurance that you don't get moisture splatters when painting your masterpiece.

if your using a tankless compressor you don't need a trap.
if you double the length of the hose it will act like a small tank and hold a little more reserve air. if not, when you spray your using all the air as fast as it can come out of the comp. so every stroke of the piston is brought to the airbrush and you get little pulses.

if your gunna use the thing all the time. go with the bottles. you can keep the paints at the ready.
just one or two plugs at a time i'd go with a top loader and a tankless.
