View Full Version : Spring wood...
steelhead 12-21-2005, 06:58 PM First few dannies for next year.... I think I'll try epoxy with a touch of pearl glitter on these instead of urethane... Lets see, equal parts, keep the stuff warm, turn them, etc... Hope I can remember :-)
Am going to do a batch with single hooks at the back. Got too many trailing trebles in the back of my hands this summer while unhooking fish. Will this have any affect on hook ups (besides my hand?)?
castn4bass 12-21-2005, 07:12 PM nice job classic paint! I like the singles on the back myself, most stripers will be on the center hook anyway. small tip,,, remove the split rings and cover the swivel in the center with a cut off piece of straw before epoxy! Great job!

UserRemoved1 12-21-2005, 08:05 PM John definitely go with the siwash. Nice lookin stuff.
Hey did you by chance give me a olive/white painted Salty Danny from those blown out blanks? It's been hanging in the shop for a while and I can't remember who gave it to me now.
steelhead 12-21-2005, 08:39 PM It was me... Wait til you see some of the blown out needles :-)
justplugit 12-21-2005, 08:43 PM Lets see, equal parts, keep the stuff warm, turn them, etc... Hope I can remember :-)
Geez SH ,i was thinkin the same thing today. Bernzy was kind enough to send me a lathe part so i can get started again and hope i can remember all the turnin steps again,
Beautiful work. :hihi:
steelhead 12-21-2005, 08:52 PM I can relate... I stopped 'poxying last winter when I had two batches not set up. I did notice that by July they were nice and hard :-)
Getting a heat lamp or quartz heater to be sure they are nice and warm when they're curing....
UserRemoved1 12-22-2005, 06:05 AM you da man! I been figuring it was you for so long, I just could not for the life of me remember when it was given. Your Danny pic made me thing of that.
I got probably 200 more of those needles when you ready :D
The Dad Fisherman 12-22-2005, 08:26 AM John, Nice stuff......Gotta love that yellow. :kewl:
Give the Devcon two ton epoxy a try, I've never had any problems w/ it setting up. and you don't have to keep turning the plugs . sets up pretty quick
steelhead 12-22-2005, 08:44 AM TDF, Where can I get the stuff?

Wally World has it for $1.97 a tube. Its usually hanging up in the Paint Aisle. its in those 2 tube syringes
Makes a great Stocking Stuffer :hihi:
steelhead 12-22-2005, 01:30 PM Thanks TDF! I'll check it out. Hate those twin tube set ups. I always squeeze out more from one side than the other :-)
Striperknight 12-22-2005, 01:51 PM Make sure you use the 30min devcon. It takes much longer to yellow.
plugger26 12-22-2005, 10:42 PM John I like the tubes but I cut them and make two separate tubes and it works much better. You can refil those tubes also. I just finished some lures tonight and the two ton expoxy is what I used to finish thm off. A cheap china brislle brush work just fine to spread the epoxy evenly over the plug.
