Guys, I want to make some small 4 in. metal lip swimmers, but I don't know where to find small lips. (Pikies and/or danny lips). Any suggestions ?

It will depend on the type and size (diameter in addition to the 4 inch length) of metal lipped swimmer. You may end up having to make your own. Colorado spinner blades will also work for some plugs. The small pikie lip and Lefty 1 lip from NJtackle.com will work on some 4 inch swimmers. I've been playing around with a 4 inch swimmer, sort of shaped like a danny, that uses the pikie lip. V-wakes real nice on top :)

MM..Your peanut bunker in the surfrats pass inspired me, so I made a small prototype metal lip. It's all wrapped up for the mrs. for xmas, pretty colors and all. I'll post a pic next week. Anyway I used the small left lip from NJ tackle I think lefty 1 high slot? whichever is the smallest. Anyways, tossed it this morning for the hell of it to see what it would do, it swims pissah. Plug is about 4 inches, a bit smaller maybe, barely an ounce. Honestly, best action I have ever gotten out of a plug. I was shocked because I wasn't shootin for the action, just a "why can't you make me one of those little cute ones?" kinda goofy thing for her.
Lucky I guess, but like I said, amazing. Anyway, next week, pics
hope it will help you out.

:kewl: found a pic. wasn't sure but here it is, not the best. It's the little bluish guy with the pink bucktail hook in the first pic.
I cropped it and blew it up in the second pic.
Not the best pictures, but I hope it helps you out.

Nice shape Jnski. It looks like a winner. What wood did you use ? I used birch with no weight. Makes it just right for casting. If the eye is vertical make it horizontal and bend the eye up. Try that. It made mine wiggle just under the surface. Pissa !

MM...I used AYC.swims just a few inches below the surface. Little dab of lead right behind the belly hook. it's probably close to the size you were talking about. That small lip worked out well for this size, maybe make some with a few different sizes and see how it works out. Please let us know how ya did.
oh..if ya look closely in the first pic, in the backround there is a REAL SWEET blue/pinkish pencil with rattles
I got in a swap this year:thanks:

Jnski,

He's in good company I see ! That's an ineresting cache of plugs you got there. That's how I used to wt. those little puppies when I was using ayc or poplar, but then tried birch without the weight with same result.

How does this one compare to the pikie 1 lip you have? I assume somewhat smaller. Might be just the thing for some freshie sized plugs :D
