First of all, congratulations John R on a sharp-looking site. My daily lunch break just got extended by 5 minutes.
I usually fish the Fishers Island area, but I'd like to try the West Wall. Saw #^&#^&#^&#^&#^&#^&'s article, which I printed. Can anyone give me simple driving directions coming up Route 1 from the CT border?
Thanks,
Jamie

Thanks Jamie, you head north on Rt1, go past Charlestown Breachway, until you see signs for Succotash Rd, and Jerusalem (there is one previous exit for Matunuck Beach that you don't want). Stay on Succotash Rd, stay right at the fork in the road (nice Cape Cod style house on the fork) and follow all the way. After you pass a large beach area you will come to a mini rotary. To the right, you'll see a Do Not Enter sign for non-residents. Just past this rotary is parallel parking on the left side for about 10 vehicles. This is the best place to park. Once geared up, walk up that road where the Do Not Enter/Kenyon membership vehicles only sign and off to the beach and the Wall.
I would reccomend splash pants/ hip boots or otherwise wet weather gear because there is a fair amount of splashing water along the Wall. No reason to fish the inside of the harbor just outside facing west. The article mentions the optimal conditions for the West Wall...
Good luck!

Thanks John. Those are some pretty thorough directions! I look forward to trying this well-known striper spot and will post a report when I eventually get down there - hopefully Saturday.

Jamie, you may also want to check out the watch hill area. There should also be some school bass there very, very soon. I did good there last spring and there was more elbow room. The west wall can be fantastic at times!! but, it can get real crowded on a weekend. Just a thought!
