Just to muddy the waters a bit :-) Was also thinking of trying DT lines in the estuaries where there's some nice "trout" water.... Anyone use it vs wgt forward lines?

Anyone use it vs wgt forward lines? Roger 01-06-2006, 09:59 AM Unless you are roll casting, what would be the point? Extended mending maybe? FishHawk 01-06-2006, 10:10 AM It all depends on your style of fishing and the action of your rod. The wind is such a big factor in saltwater flyfishing that you need the extra punch of a WF line to cast in the wind. That being said ,up in the estuaries you certainly could use the DT without a problem. I guess it comes down to your style of fishing. FishHawk denis 01-06-2006, 10:10 AM I use a double taper line when I'm fishing a pond or river with no room to back cast,it is easier to roll cast that line verse a weight foward, while it is difficult to roll cast for any distince with the weight foward. I find back casting a double taper a little tricky. steelhead 01-06-2006, 10:16 AM I'm thinking of this for the estuaries in situations like you guys have described. Drifting flies with a wet fly swing, etc.... The weight forward lines sometimes feel like they're hard to mend when a have a bunch of line out on the water. Maybe short casts in the surf, but not sure about that yet.... vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
